I watched High Plains Drifter for the first time tonight and am still sitting here thinking about that movie. I wouldn't call it a masterpiece but the longer I sit here thinking about it and the plot pieces all start clicking together like the tumblers of a lock it becomes an amazing story.

I thought this was going to be the typical mysterious brooding gunmen Western and throughout the movie I kept wondering what the hell Eastwood's character was doing with his plan and I finally got it as the drifter was riding out of town. Amazing stuff.
I can't believe I never watched this movie a long time before.

He has a lot of great westerns, If you haven't seen The Outlaw Josey Wales, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Unforgiven, and/or Pale Rider, you should check those out. He has other good ones as well. Those are my favorites though.

I have seen all of those with Unforgiven being the best IMO. The supernatural aspect of High Plains Drifter is what set it apart from his other Westerns to me. Didn't expect that at all.

Great movie! Pale Rider is similar and equally good.

My favorite of Clint's westerns. I have to watch it if it's on. Pale Rider is a close second.

It's on Netflix right now, I will probably watch it a second time this weekend to see if I pick up any more plot clues that I missed the first go around. I need to watch the scene of Marshall Duncan getting killed to listen to what he says more closely as that ties into what the drifter painted on the town sign.

First time I watched Pale Rider I thought he was reprising the role of Josey Wales without saying it.

Eastwood says the Pale Rider is a Ghost. He's a Horseman of the Apocalypse - Death. When I watched it again with that in mind it made it work better.
