Of the four possible projects Villeneuve has said he's exploring for his next directing gig...

- Cleopatra
- Dune: Messiah
- Rendezvous with Rama
- "Secret Project"

...this looks to be the "secret project" of which we didn't yet know the subject matter, that Villeneuve recently said "needs to see the light of day quite quickly." That said, the article states that "Villeneuve would take this one as another giant project after he completes Dune: Messiah."

In other words, while we finally seem to have an answer for the "secret project," we still don't know which project is next, and this announcement is only adding more confusion in that regard, considering Villeneuve has said he needs a break from Dune and wants to do something else before Messiah.

The only thing that makes sense to me is that Flemming (the writer of the article) has his info wrong, and that Villeneuve is, in fact, directing this next.

Hopefully we'll get some clarity soon...

That lady's book is really gripping by the way, if you want to read a book that confirms that if someone launches a nuclear weapon, basically anywhere, we're all probably going to die very soon thereafter.

She is a former national security reporter and talked to dozens of experts and came up with a fictional scenario where North Korea launches a long-range nuke at Washington D.C. She says we'd have to shoot missiles over Russia to hit NK back, and that Russia's early-warning tech is so crappy that they would probably think we were launching a pre-emptive strike on them and launch everything they had at us in retalitation.

So we've got that going for us.

Good to know.

Jacobsen also wrote Area 51: An Uncensored History of America, which is great as well. Like, about the confirmed stuff and not so much all the alien lore.

She's legit.

And now Variety is saying, of Nuclear War: A Scenario, Villeneuve "may have found his next project," which would make so much more sense...

As are all others of global apocalypses... disaster type notwithstanding, just updated as human technology evolves and writers continue to get creative and speculative.

I prefer the China Zombie apocalypse scenario which often involves a nuclear exchange.

OK, now hopefully all the not-so-clever derailing is over.

============================================================================

As for this film, it looks interesting. Real threats like nuclear devastation are scarier than any monster movie.

A song for a montage or the closing credits already exists…

Denis says he wants a break from filming in the desert, chooses nuclear hellscape instead.
