Holy *****

This is NOT an April Fool's joke.

I repeat, this is NOT an April Fool's joke.

I am absolutely levitating right now.

My all-time favorite director is directing a sequel to one of my favorite movies of the past decade.

And it's shooting THIS summer.

I cannot believe this is real, but it's apparently a re-worked version of The Movie Critic, which Tarantino wrote and was going to make as his tenth and final film, but abandoned at the last minute...

Sorry, but I won't believe it until tomorrow.

Understandable.

That said, this would have to be the most elaborate, coordinated April Fool's joke ever, as multiple sites are now reporting on multiple aspects of the deal/the project's development, and a couple reporters are mentioning how they've been chasing this story for a while now, etc. All with no wink-wink pretense whatsoever.

You can tell its totally not an April Fools joke by the number of people posting "this is NOT a joke!"

Wasn't a big fan of the third act of Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, but I'd definitely watch a Fincher directed movie featuring Cliff Booth and Rick Dalton.

I got burned already today with the announcement of the Christopher Nolan/Quentin Tarantino collab news.

The "trades" are Deadline, The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, and The Wrap. The big dogs.

It's real.

No way Fennessey, of all people, would be in on the ruse as well...

Finches and Tarantino seem so far apart in their work product that I can't really imagine a continuation of the OUTIH storyline.

It's going to focus more on Pitt's character than DiCaprio's. In that sense, I can see Pitt's character getting caught up in some seedier stuff. I don't think it'll be a dark movie, per se, but maybe more in line with the vibes of the Spawn Ranch sequence than the laughing/hanging out vibe of, say, watching FBI with DiCaprio's character.

Glad to be getting the sequel that I deserve.

As official as it gets without Netflix themselves announcing.

The trades have confirmed.

Hell yeah...

Dream plot line for me involves Cliff turning out to be DB Cooper.

I still can't wrap my head around the fact that we're ACTUALLY getting a David Fincher directed movie written by Quentin Tarantino.

One that was meant to be Tarantino's tenth and final film.

Which was/is a spin-off sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which is easily one of my top ten if not top five movies of the century.

But then we ALSO get a tenth film from Tarantino.

It's the best of both worlds.

In fact, it's heaven.

2026 somehow just got even more insane.

I'm somewhere between what you're feeling and a more cautious please don't screw up one of my favorite movies/characters. To me UOATIH was close to perfection, it ended in such a fitting way, I almost would rather leave it there. But hopefully this turns into something awesome.

In anyone else hand's I would agree. But it's Fincher. And Tarantino. And probably a whole different vibe/tone, so as to stand as its own thing.
Cliff.Booth

Yeah, that's true. I just wonder about the movie's tone, because QT has such a unique way of establishing that, Fincher's will obviously be very different. Like hearing The Smiths play a Cure song. Not bad....just weird. I'll maintain optimism though.

One of my favorite scenes from any movie.

"That's Bobby Hogan. Good guy."
"My booze don't need no buddy."

People had the same (rightful) concern before Fincher did Sorkin, which ultimately resulted in The Social Network. I'm not saying this will be as good, but Fincher is sometimes at his best when has to stretch a little and can't go full serial killer.

"That's Bobby Hogan. Good guy." is a line I somehow think about maybe more than any other over the past five years.

That whole commentary bit is incredible.

They nailed the way bros from that generation chatter while watching TV together. So many times as a kid hearing my Grandpa and Great Uncle chit chat like that over any show / game on.

Oh ***** Might be real.

This would be so awesome if so, for the reason stated above. We get to have our cake (this QT script) and eat it too. (Another QT movie.)

And to quote the great Christoph Waltz, Fincher + Tarantino, that's an uber bingo.
