What would you argue is the best 5-movie run done by any actor/actress? Which actor or actress pulled off the greatest consecutive five movie run of awesome roles in great movies? Go.

John Cazale

Was in exactly 5 movies. All 5 nominated for Best Picture.

The Godfather
The Conversation
The Godfather Part II
Dog Day Afternoon
The Deer Hunter

EDIT: 3 Best picture wins. Cazale should've gotten two Best Supporting Actor nominations (Godfather 2 & Dog Day Afternoon)

I'll submit these two. With two Leo non feature lengths crossed out.

Oops ETA: Django got cut off but starts that insane Leo run

Without having to cross anything out, I'd submit these two:

I only crossed those two on Leo's off because they were a cameo in a music video and a short. So I'm really only considering their feature length movies, not stuff like that.

I hate the phrase "end of thread", but this literally ends the thread. Not even Tom Hanks in the 90s can compete with this.

This isn't even Tom Hanks' best run. Second to Cazale is:

- Sleepless in Seattle
- Philadelphia
- Forrest Gump
- Apollo 13
- Toy Story

Hard to beat although I had to look up who John Cazale was because I couldn't recall him.

Tom Cruise has had an overall incredible run, but the five pics shown here I can't go with. Magnolia sucked and that 8.0 rating is b.s.. Come at me. He has so many good movies he has multple options for candidates here. I would say this one is better than the one presented, although I know many would poopoo Legend.

Cliff.Booth

He upped his game drastically as an actor as he aged. Magnolia is weird and I get not for everyone, but his acting performance in it is next level. But when you scroll through his roles there are quite a few great runs of 3-5 to consider. Dude just gives it everything he's got.

Not a five-year run, but struggling to think of someone who had a better single year than Jim Carrey in 1994.

- Ace Ventura
- The Mask
- Dumb and Dumber

Guy really honed his craft so much he ended up talking out of his butt. Wish that 3 movie run had culminated in him as Hamlet.

Literally Kristen Stewart. Such an amazing run as Bella consecutively:
1. Twilight (2008)
2. New Moon (2009)
3. Eclipse (2010)
4. Breaking Dawn Part 1 (2011)
5. Breaking Dawn Part 2 (2012)

Not following the rules, but I'm blown away by Rob Reiner's run as a director from 84-92 so I shoehorn it in wherever I can. Great movies, but also the variety is incredible.

Spinal Tap
The Sure Thing (haven't seen this one, so maybe it's a total outlier)
Stand by Me
Princess Bride
When Harry Met Sally
Misery
A Few Good Men

He's a clown (a meathead if you will) but that is absolutely a great run.

They're not consecutive (as in, there are movies in between them) but in 5 consecutive years, Kevin Costner puts together the Untouchables, Bull Durham, Field of Dreams, Dances with Wolves and JFK. That's pretty legit.

I'll have to give this some thought and research!

This is a fun game. Don't consider these five top but interesting to see:

Denzel Washington

The Bone Collector
The Hurricane
Remember the Titans
Training Day
John Q

Adam Sandler

Billy Madison
Happy Gilmore
Bulletproof
The Wedding Singer
The Waterboy (I skipped Dirty Work cause he wasn't the main lead)

Jim Carrey

Ace Ventura
The Mask
Dumb and Dumber
Batman Forever
Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls

(You could easily pick a few other 5 film combinations for him)

Mel Gibson

Chicken Run
The Patriot
What Women Want
We Were Soldiers
Signs

(this is surprising…but had a few duds inbetween his other awesome films)

Will Smith

Bad Boys
Independence Day
Men in Black
Enemy of the State
Wild Wild West (ugh)

Nicholas Cage

Leaving Las Vegas
The Rock
Con Air
Face Off
City of Angels

Those aren't consecutive, she had a couple of other movies in that run that would break it up.

You killed it with the 1st reply on the thread.

I'm ashamed to admit I have not seen a couple of those, but he really should have gotten a supporting actor nomination in Godfather Part II. He helps to take that film to another level.

OK, you ready for the most underrated one ever?
Thomas Mitchell. You will probably say. "Who?". But he played Uncle Billy in it's a wonderful life.
But here is his prime run. If you don't know how highly acclaimed these all were, look it up, but I provided a few accolades.

Stagecoach (#63 on AFI top 100 in 100 years)
Only Angels Have Wings (7.6 on IMDB and the weakest of the five but great cast).
Mr. Smith goes to Washington (#29 on the AFI list)
Gone with the Wind (#4 on thr AFI list)
The Hunchback of Notre Dame (an all time classic and 93% on RT).

He might beat anyone you can find.

Arnold:

Conan the Destroyer
Terminator
Predator
Total Recall
Twins

Just kidding, those aren't consecutive, but any 5 Aroold movies from 82-97 are gonna be regarded similarly. Not quite as acclaimed as some mentioned previously, but Arnold movies from that era are a huge part of our shared pop culture history.

The Money Pit is horrible and I still want my money back for seeing it in the Lake II theater.

Good luck with getting money back.

Seriously, the old lady that ran that place didn't strike me as someone you'd want to ask money back from.

It is hard to pick which 5 consecutive Shannon Tweed movies to use.
