I really had high hopes for this given the cast but I was quite underwhelmed. Tina Fey was good. Will Forte was awkward as ****. Steve Carell was average at best. The Alan Alda cameo was a nice touch.

Watched first 2 episodes last night, started third just now and the wife pulled the plug on it 5 minutes into episode 3… which was fine by me. Looked promising based on cast but not funny, engaging or even an interesting storyline.

I had it on earlier this week and by the end of episode two, I hated everyone except Will Forte's character. I kept it on for background noise while I was working and was loosely following the storyline and got pulled back in with the last two episodes. Hoeever, if it gets picked up for season 2, I won't bother.

I couldn't get over how terrible Steve Carrell's wife was in that show. I'd probably leave her also.

Yeah, she was a real dud. I found Claude and Ginny obnoxious and Kate, Nick, and Danny were a-holes.

...and then we meet Ann and Nick's daughter...yikes...

Just bad.

My wife had it on for a few episodes and it was just really depressing to watch how ****ty all of the characters were. They were just really horrible people and made us feel bad. So we turned it off never to watch again.

Aside from making one of the couples fit for "MODERN AUDIENCES," it actually matches the original pretty closely (rewatched it last night) in terms of character style and development.

The personalities are similar; the movie characters are unlikeable, too.

I liked it. I thought it was funny. I usually find Will Forte super annoying and he was actually tolerable. Tina Fey and Steve Carrell are always enjoyable. Ann was supposed to be lame. Ginny is supposed to be obnoxious. Tina and Will had a nice story arc. Was it the best thing ever? No. But it was well written and produced.
