It's a Fathom event back this weekend for Father's Day. Finally get to take my kids to an Indy movie in theaters.

One of the all time great movies. Ford and Connery had the perfect chemistry.

"I told you no camels...that's FIVE camels!!"

"The dog??!!!??? You were named for the dog???!!!???"
God loves you so much He'll meet you where you are. He also loves you too much to allow to stay where you are.

I won't say it's better, but I think it's more entertaining and re-watchable than Raiders.

My brother and I took my dad to see this at the Drafthouse on Father's Day probably 15-20 years ago. it's such a different tone than Raiders, but sometimes I secretly think it's better.

One of the very rare movies of its genre to lean hard into Christianity in awesome way. I remember seeing it in the theaters and getting chills when you realize that the Arthurian knight is still freaking alive in there.

Plus you get some Han Solo / General Veers action.
And that damn opening sequence and what might have been for River Phoenix.

There was an Indy movie literally two years ago, but I get it - the Dial of Destiny was not peak Indy.

Of my three favorite movies, Raiders and TLC are neck and neck behind The Empire Strikes Back. After the Temple of Doom, bringing in Sean Connery as dad was a genius move. The movie is much more of a character movie than any of the others, and is the perfect movie to see with your kids on Father's Day.

After just recently spending 18 days in Europe with my elderly father this movie really hit home in a good way. "Come on Dad" will never sound the same.

I really, really enjoy Dial of Destiny, but because of family issues (and my youngest was too young), I didn't get to take my kids.

Gotcha. I thought that could be the case.

I was fortunate to get to share that one with my daughter, who was 17. And the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull when she was 2, but since she slept in her mom's arms for that movie, that one doesn't count.

I thought it was a lot of fun, especially when they revealed they had killed Shia LeBouf in Vietnam.

The opening de-aged piece and the giant swerve with the time machine was great.

Plus it was a good preview of the eventual Star Wars movie featuring de-aged Han Solo vs Mikkelsen's Thrawn

Agree on DoD.

Raiders > (by a hair) TLC > DoD > KotCS > ToD

Raiders is still the best for the same reason SW is the best of that franchise, nothing else exists without it. But if I had a choice on watching one, it's probably this one I turn on. In no small part thanks to Alison Doody. Better settings too, with Venice, the Alps, and Petra. It also didn't take itself nearly as seriously as the previous 2 so it's an easier watch. But it's still resting on the genius of the first one.
