Been on an 80s kick

Grew up in the 80s, graduated HS early 90s…but kids are 9-12

Knocked out Ferris Bueller's Day Off tonight.

Other recents were Karate Kid, Footloose, and Great Outdoors.

The movies still hold up.

Watched World War Z with the family last night. Kids age 12, 12, and15. It was a big hit! Got to introduce the younger kids to "fast" zombies. A few bad words, but almost no gore which was nice.

We watched Lean on Me sunday night for a 15 year old (Houston schools), and my 13 & 12 year olds (Colorado suburbs). I was happily surprised that all 3 loved it and wanted a principal that talked straight and demanded more of the kids, while also getting to know everybody.

There is some "2025 inappropriate language" in that classic. My son died laughing.

Speaking of which, we recently showed the kids Rush Hour which was hilarious. And apparently, some streaming platforms are warning us for the "offensive" content. LOLOL...

Took my son on a hike yesterday morning and name dropped the title Bushwhacked (1995) with Daniel Stern playing the unlikely scout leader on a hike.

Sadly, doesnt look like it's available for streaming, at least for now.

Check out the list of movies that came out in 1985. Then you could narrow that down the the movies that came out during the summer.

If they liked Karate Kid and/or Cobra Kai, have them check out The Outsiders, especially if they read it in school.

It's also great to show them all these famous actors who aren't much older than them.

Clue holds up, my 9 year old loves it and I had forgotten how great it was.

Others I haven't seen mentioned:
Big
Space Camp
Spinal Tap
Major League
Raising Arizona
Ghostbusters
The Money Pit
The Breakfast Club
Willow
Predator
Uncle Buck
Better Off Dead
Sixteen Candles
Field of Dreams
Summer Rental
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
Aliens
The Thing
Neverending Story
Heathers
Rain Man
Beverly Hills Cop
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
National Lampoon's Vacation
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Spaceballs
Time Bandits
Short Circuit
Trading Places
Adventures in Babysitting
Real Genius
Spies Like Us
Caddyshack
Red Dawn
Top Gun
Stripes
Rocky 4
Weird Science
The Right Stuff
Batman
Escape From New York
Explorers
Inner Space
Blade Runner
Funny Farm
Poltergeist
Nightmare on Elm Street
The Running Man
Road House
Midnight Run
License to Drive
The Legend of Billie Jean
Overboard
The Wizard
Honey I Shrunk The Kids

And before anyone says not all of these are for kids, you failed the test. If you grew up in the 80s there were basically no rules when it came to what movies your kid saw at just about any age.

That was my senior year in high school (San Marcos). Fantastic list right there.
