We were discussing this the other day and " The sound of music" was mentioned. I know all the popular scenes but I don't ever think I've sat and watched this movie from start to finish.

My wife said "Mary Poppins" was like that, so much going on, then they throw in that feed the bird lady that she loses interest.

What other movies are popular but you've never sat through them start to finish?

Yikes, two of my favorite movies. But I can see how some can sway: Sound of music is a bit of a marathon and some of mary poppins numbers do linger a bit too long.

For some reason I'm really intrigued by boxing movies. Got about 30 minutes into Raging Bull before calling it quits. It's pretty terrible.

I would watch it in 3D in the theater again, but beyond that I'm done with it.

The only thing that comes to mind is the full version of Return of the King. The "ending" takes another half hour or so. I usually quit after the victory over Sauron. End on a high note, you know?

This is the one that I have never been able to finish. That movie came out in 1980, which was shortly after I had discovered the first two Rocky movies and loved both of those. Raging Bull bored me to tears. I never did get all the way through it.

Forrest Gump bores the crap out of me after about the first hour, and I usually don't pay attention to much of the stuff after the storm.

Apollo 13 took me three tries to finish, and I've never rewatched it.

I've never seen Titanic, Philadelphia Story, or Schindlers List, but that's not exactly answering the OP's question.

Godfather II - I like the first, but find the 2nd is a slog to get through
2001 - snooze fest
Apocalypse Now - Parts of the movie are great, a lot of it is boring
Interstellar - Amazing movie for the first 2/3. I hate the last 1/3
The Big Lebowski - I just don't get it. Maybe I need to smoke pot before watching it

Doesn't really count but Home Alone. The scenes with the old man scared me as a 5 year old and I'm still in the habit of fast forwarding through those.

Any Harry Potter movie. I've seen bits and pieces but there's no way I could watch a whole movie.

The Irishman.

Seeing that scene where a 70 year old DeNiro has his 40 year old face super-imposed on his body, attempting to kick the **** out of some store worker who was harassing his daughter was pretty comical, but definitely a Jump The Shark type of moment.
