Today we were talking about condiments in our team chat.

someone said horseradish was the worst.

i said with a name like that, it's probably bad. they should re-name it WMD.

Now, i'm 10-15 years older than most of my team /9 i don't expect them to know my 80s stuff.

But wa that too cryptic?

At a meeting at work a couple of years ago, I made a comment about how real men don't eat quiche. I don't remember the context of why I said it, but I do remember all the blank stares from people that had no clue what I was talking about.

Agreed. I'm 49, big into movies, tv, music....and other than the Steve Perry reference the rest flew over my head (and I've watched The Wire).

This is pretty cryptic out of context, especially with the misspelling to get around the censors.

There are about 10 quotes from the movie i would get quicker than that one. Like, I take it black, like my men.

Many of my old team at work never saw Star Wars 4-6 so anytime I referenced it they rolled their eyes. Most of that team is now in their mid 30s.

And that's even with the fact that Star Wars is still as big as it is.

Harry Potter is their Star Wars.

We have an audio controller at work with the volume of 0-10, but the software guys thought that people would think 0 meant muted. So they changed the displayed volume to be 1-11. I'm the only one who finds it amusing.

Maybe not a pop culture reference, but, last year I was buying a Honda Pilot for the wife. While waiting for the paperwork I mentioned that my family owned an Oldsmobile Dealership for over 40 years. The young salesman looked and me and said, "What's an Oldsmobile?"
