What if we took all of the manpower and hours of labor and built low income rent houses under Section 8 housing, and created a permanent scholarship fund from the income rather than a bonfire?

He double toothpicks yes, I am an old ag, class of 84, and spent countless hours over 4 years cutting and working the stack on campus. It was fun, but the real fun was being together and accomplishing a goal.

How about you folks at HPZ jump in and lead some home building like this, and create something that will add value for years to come, rather than a 10 hour fire? You always provided the equipment we needed, and this would be for a better build project.

We could also do away with the football program and build houses, never go see movies and work at soup kitchens instead, never go to concerts and tutor children instead, etc...

Based on what I have seen out of the football program this year, I am not so certain that we have not done away with the football program.

Hey guys, I am not advocating doing charity work, I was advocating turning all that energy into a money making venture that would provide another endowment, rather than more wasted energy on a fire that burns in one day. Never mind, I have already dropped this as another dumb idea from me.....LOL....

I've heard that was one of the least Ol'Army outfits ever.

For several reasons, I would argue it is not totally wasted. One of them being that SB does give scholarships. As the organization grows the amount and number will increase.

This is something a couple of us have been wondering about lately. With increasing popularity/turnout (of which this year has been a great example) there will inevitably be more trees cut than can be used. In the old days it seems like this would have been less of a problem and more like a goal. But the current Stack thats built is static because it was engineered to a particular mold and to deviate from that would mean having to reengineer it.

The woods this year were great and probably would have allowed for a decent inner ring of 40' trees, with all of them still touching the ground, but that would change the design that was agreed on (until told otherwise I'm assuming under the Bowen administration). So what happens next year or the year after when there's routinely a 1000 people, and final log tally is 2-3k?

Huh, would you say that they'd be selling a ton of wood?

If by Old Army, you mean playing mos and drinking beer and chasing women, we were right there with the best of them. If you mean winning General Moore cord...nope we did not stand a chance.

My class gift by the way was the bonfire endowment. Does anyone know what happened to that gift money?
