For the first two home games, I've set up with the help of the Greens on Northgate with posters, my Big Blue 2010 photo album, and a pile of free Stack 2010 photos for people to take with and show off what y'all have done.
The free photos are often treated like cherished keepsakes. "I can keep this?" They walk away holding them up in front of them, oblivious to traffic. Or they track down a buddy, sometimes in a jog, waving your photo the whole way. Or they kneel down and point out the details they recognize to their children.
I keep the photo album open to the Last Stack photo with everyone left at 4 am. Time and again people walk by and point to that photo and say "That's what we used to do, every year." I wish you could see the expressions on their face when I tell them that Stack they're seeing is Bonfire 2010. They are in an instant a mix of some combination of proud, relieved, motivated, restored, and so much more. As they look carefully through each page of photographs, they are clearly moved by what you have done and what you are doing.
They are happy for you and because of you. They are proud for you and because of you. And most of all, they are grateful to you. As am I.
Build the Hell.
