Hey guys...I wanted to pass along some exciting news! Dion McInnis and the fine people with Aggie Student Bonfire have connected with me in recent weeks and we have booked an hour on TexAgs Radio for those guys to come in-studio to spend an hour talking about the off-campus Bonfire. We have this special feature booked for Thursday, August 23 from 10-11 a.m. We'll talk about the history of moving off-campus, how it's run and where it's headed in the future.

Here are the names and titles of the young men that will join me on August 23:

- Patrick Bailey, '13 - Senior Red Pot, Head Stack
- Eric Menn, '13 - Senior Red Pot, Truck
- Scott Coker, '92 - Yellow Pot, 1991; Chairman, Board of Directors
- Dion McInnis, '03 - Head Stack, 2003-2004; Member, Board of Directors

In addition, former A&M head coach Jackie Sherrill - a longtime champion for the Bonfire tradition - will come on the show for a segment to talk about his renewed involvement with Aggie Bonfire (more details on that to come)!

Here's a message from Dion McInnis, board member for Student Bonfire and Class of 2003:

quote:
"As the Aggies move into a new era, in a new conference, with new (and old) rivalries, Bonfire-building Aggies are as motivated as ever to bring the Aggie family another Bonfire in 2012. Student Bonfire looks forward to joining TexAgs with our good friend Coach Jackie Sherrill to talk Bonfire 2012 and beyond."

If you have any specific questions for these guys, ask them here and we'll try to get to them during the hour.

Thanks!

Gig 'em, Team Media! This is HUGE!

Ask them when Bonfire will be able to subsidize necessary equipment/products (i.e., skyhooks, tree-lean indicators, wood softener, etc).

How many left-handed sky hooks will be in use during the cut process of Student Bonfire this year?

Very good question. Since that's a technical matter, that should probably be answered here. The current inventory of Stump Guides is a little low. Incidentally, this may be a result of dry conditions in '11 which some had guessed were responsible for tougher, dryer woods. Regardless, even in much better conditions for '12, with fewer Stump Guides on hand and not likely to arrive by First Cut on September 15, I would have to assume that an unprecendented quantity of Sky Hooks will be in order this year. Incoming members of the Class of 2016 are encouraged to bring any of their own that they may have at home.

Will we get some left-handed rope in time for Stack? It's hard to get a good grip when it's twisted the wrong way.

I need to find my manual tree debarker that's buried in my closet....

But this is awesome news! SB has certainly come a long way since even my freshman year, and I look forward to helping this year be ever better!

Will there be an opportunity again this year to watch Coop hang a tree over a tractor path?

I've gotten crafty in my old age. If it happens, it will not have happened.
