Since many of you weren't even born yet; its a good break down of the event except its completely told through the voices of the people who actually lived the experience.

Thanks. I read every word.
It's not the severity of the punishment that deters crime; it's the certainty of it.

I was in high school when Bonfire fell, so i was not at A&M. My parents were aggies; my dad had worked on Bonfire as a student, but i didnt really "get it". I didnt "get it" until i went to fish camp, and became an Aggie. I didnt "get it" until i read a similar article (i think it was in 2009 at the 10 year mark, TX monthly wrote it) and the article had be sobbing just reading it. Again, it was testimony from the people involved. Then, after college, i met a guy at work in Houston who was stuck under the pile when it fell. He was stuck for hours and hours. He had to delay his graduation b/c of the year he spent recovering in the hospital. Hearing his personal account is incredibly moving.
To this day, just thinking a little too long about it will have me tearing up.
