Is there a comprehensive history or book describing the origins of bonfire to today? I was a former member of the Corps, therefore I know about most of the history, but not all of it. In my day, a cypress tree was trucked in (by HB Zachary?) as the center poll, and the height of it determined the height of the bonfire (in 1971 it was >100' tall). I believe the center pole in 1999 was two (?) pine trees that were connected together (??, correct me if I'm wrong). In my day, a perimeter was set up around the bonfire which mechanical equipment could not enter. The location of the bonfire was different because it was south of Duncan Dining Hall....Just curious.
