Got ideas? Well, we'd like to hear them. info@studentbonfire.com

Have any good connections you want to offer? See above.

Want to help so we will have money to BTHOB, yeah... you get the drill.

We need you. As I mentioned on another post, we've all got to pick up the slack and work together. Bonfire doesn't happen without the means to make it happen. Those means are no longer provided (although, I do know the Reds did a lot of this work... but we have no longer have any university funding), so we are looking for ways to get them. Even if it's a stupid idea, I promise we won't laugh... for long.

I'd try not to giggle my way through any future fundraising communications, but that's just me.

"The Boys of Bonfire" calendar.

Make sure to include Prescious, Dwight, Bull, and Girth...

...wearing nothing but chainsaw chaps and pots.

Honestly, I don't know what you guys could do short of doing the mothers club rounds around Texas or getting in good with the Governor's people. I assume that the concerts have been either poorly timed or poorly attended. The merchandise sales probably aren't as lucrative as they were because of the current Bonfire apparel available from Bonfire Coalition, Loupots, etc..

The obvious answer would be to have a very profitable burn this year and carry over the excess. I realize that you need money now to prepare for the Fall Semester.

The biggest impact you are going to have is to get face-to-face with some well-to-do former students and give them a good presentation on OC Bonfire. Ask for their money. So many people are out there saying "I'd give, but no one has asked."

p.s. More would give if you became non-profit. Everyone loves a good tax write-off.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

I've chatted with several fellow members of the Capital City A&M Club, and that's been their comments in a nutshell.

If you'd like to do a presentation at our Monday lunch meetings, just ask and we'll see what we can do to schedule you.

I'm sure there are countless other A&M Clubs around the state that would also be accomodating.

It is also not hard to get slots in the Dallas and Houston A&M clubs. I agree on the non-profit as well, but I'm guessing you meant more along the lines of emailing the ideas.

Houston also has the Reveille Club that is very good for these types of things.

Some ideas... Paintball tournament, ($50 per team), a raffle up at post oak mall, offer a moving service for students moving into apartments, that or walk the streets washing peoples windows as they stop at a stop light and beg for change, or like the firemen walk up and down the streets with a pot instead of a big boot

For every person that gives you money, follow up with a handwritten thank you letter immediately after receiving their gift. After OC Bonfire takes place, send them another thank you letter with an update with how many people attended and a picture if possible. Then keep those people in a database and contact them the next year. Every year your database will grow and eventually, you won't have to hold carwashes or bake sales. If you're really interested in getting some good money, contact a fundraising consultant.

  • Benefit concert (advertised better, maybe a band that would do it for free)
  • Set up tables on the back porch to sell merchandise
  • Visit any stores in BCS that would let you sell shirts there (wholesale to the store or on consignment(there is a new student run bookstore that might be interested))
  • Advertise the Plasma donation more
  • Contact all A&M clubs in Texas for support
