Havn't been to cut in a while. Do the nerds cut as a dorm anymore? If so, do ya'll have a contact? If not, any old nerds out there looking to get together for cut? I guess that is contingent on the Hogs taking us.

Sadly, no. In fact, I don't know if any Lechner fish went to Cut last year at all. (There were two in '03.)

There have, however, been a few old nerds out there (with their post-Lechner dorms), including one of the 2003 graypots, and Yell Leader candidate Mike Winn.

Not really up to the Hogs whether or not you cut with them. But if y'all show up, the browns'll take care of where you cut.

There are very few old Nerds that make it out to Bonfire nowadays but those that we have would be happy to have you. I am trying to get a contigent of Nerds (old and new) together for cut, but Lechner Hall staff has made it very difficult for me to talk to any of the freshmen. If you are on facebook, join the Bonfire Nerds group and we can get together for first cut (I'm the "Crew Chief" on there, email me). If you don't do facebook, reply and I will give my email.

There was an Old Nerd cut organized last year before a home game, with participants from the classes of '99 through '03.

Unfortunately, a storm came through and cut was rained out.

I'll talk to the guys involved and see if they are considering anything like that this year.



Oh yea, I saw the Lechner yellow from Bonfire '94 out there last year one day.

It'd be nice if some old nerds could get together and organize a presentation of sorts for the fish - don't try the hard sell, but rather put the information out there and let them know that the Honors Office can't punish them for participating.

A good idea, but you can't go through hall staff. (Just ask Jimmy.)

Perhaps someone could talk Lechner into having a gameday barbeque, and a few old nerds could "just happen to notice" it on their way to Kyle Field.

I an old nerd from Lechner XV and I was out last year. Im living in HHH now. Last year I went with Hotard, but this year I am trying to start my own crew up in HHH with a couple others that moved over from Hotard. In Ol Army days Lechner cut with Schuhmacher, and they got the bright orange color because we were the real bright iridescent green.

It'd be great to see more of them out there though.

Lechner only cut with Schuhmacher until the Nerds got their own Yellow Pot in 91. For a bunch of nerds they could load almost as well as the Hogs from back then. George and I dubbed one crew "The Machine" due to their ability to consistently hit us in the middle of the truck with a log. Only our Hog crews could do that as well. Of course when a Walton crew would come up, we would ask them to please just clear the f-sticks this time.

Yet another reason for me to feel old: the words "old nerd" being used to refer to someone from Lechner XV.

There is no greater truth than not trying to through the Hall Staff to try to talk to the current nerds. Despite a few attempts my fish year, I tried again this year just to talk to the fish about Bonfire (traditions, gear, history, etc. NOT Student Bonfire oriented at all) during one of their Tradition talks. I talked to two SAs and the Hall Director and none were too receptive to say the least. Anyways, I am absolutely in for any Nerd Bonfire activity. If Nerd97 still wants my e-mail, it is snoball_md@hotmail.com. Plus, if yall have any ideas to try to get some current fish involved, I would be happy to help.

Back in the mid-to-late 90's the SA's were pro-Bonfire and otherwise did just enough to placate the Honors Office.

I was a Nerd '93-94. Was Dan the yellow that was out there? I lost touch with him and lots of my Nerd buddies after re-build in '94. I'd like to possibly come out for cut sometime and teach some fish how to swing an axe and tell some old stories.

Yea, Dan was the yellow in '94 and the guy that showed up at cut one day last year.

Man. Kinda sad that Lechner doesn't put out more for Bonfire like the other Northside dorms. We had a great time together when I was there in 1993. In fact, I remember getting the previlege to gaurd a pole one night that the Crocker guys weren't to happy about.
