If anyone knows how to get in contact with him. Think real hard about how you would do it, if the leadership approves. They may already have plans.

Don't invite anyone to speak until you have staging, sound, and lighting 100% squared away.

I've brought it up to the leadership, said they woudl "consider it". I doubt anything has been done.

Contacting him is as easy as walking up to him during his weekly radio show or calling the offices. He LOVES bonfire and absolutely will talk to any Aggie about it. This man is a class act.

Seems that people weren't too interested in Coach Sherrill talking, i'm not faulting them cause I know they have alot to deal with. Maybe they're too young to know what this man means to A&M football and Aggieland in general

IMHO, I think it would be great to have him speak but Keegan is right.

And I would venture to say that it's not that people don't think it's a good idea, but I would be willing to bet that they just get busy worrying about other things and that slips back. This late in the game, I'd only pursue it if someone can produce a strong and direct contact with Sherrill.

If we don't know of one, take it upon yourself to rustle it up for next year. You have an entire year to figure out how to get an in.

I don't want this to seem negative at all, but I've learned the proceed first with idealogical things like this and when things become more solidified, produce your research. It is just that things get so strung out in the efforts to actually build the thing that things that are not as urgent get put on the back burner.

And... now I am rambling. I am going to go get a couple hours of sleep.

Instead of inviting him to be a guest of honor this year (unless you have a stage and sound system in your back pocket) just ask a question during his show. Along the lines of "Mr. Sherril I know you are a proponent of Aggie Bonfire, do you know that Nov. 19 that AS Bonfire will be burning, what are your thoughts" or something along those lines. If we are lucky he will starting pouring out the love for Bonfire and maybe even show up to see it. He doesn't have to speak, it would just be great to have him there.

Do the Grey Pots have a PR person? you know the person who bought the commercial time on the readio or the person who does the website. I know its not as glorious as being the guys out at stack but having sombody like that who would take care of thoset things would take alot of pressure off the others so they could focus on building.

My guess is that falls under the Green's tent, honestly I think they have the hardest job. It would be good to have a dedicated person for PR. The word still hasn't gotten out, I hear people saying "are they having an OC Bonfire this year?"

At Sherrill's show just ask him, "Coach will you come to Bonfire with me?"

Well I second that Keegan.

Some say he will be at duaghters concert that might be tonight but I dont' follow that stuff.

I bet he would say yes but you need to be sure about the stage and stuff.

I also have been saying for four years you need better PR--like a committee that just does that.

Right now the fact you can't link pictures off the site makes it hard to help out. Other years when I would see a bring bonfire back thread, I would put in a picture and say it is there. This time I can only put up the site but many people are too lazy to click through.

The reason we prevented hot-linking is the bandwidth costs associated with it. After looking at the logs from this year and last year, I think we can allow hot-links to images.

Not sure if I will get to go. Dad is really fragile right now. If I go, there will be a diary.

If I have time this weekend, at least at texags I will be posting highlights from the other 4 years--small snippets to help convince old ags to drive in.

I understand why they have it so early, but I also wish they could return it closer to the game itself.

I don't think you throw Coach Sherril at Bonfire right now- sounds like this thing to be a bit better organized. You start planning for something like that month's before, you get a commitment and ensure you have the sound system to make it a quality thing, you keep it under wraps, maybe leak it out a few weeks before.

Sherrill is an Aggie treasure- have him come when the time is right. Don't play a Spade on a two!

Last years' big surprise was the yell leaders. I hope for something added each year.

Sadly I didn't know there were Yell Leaders there until the next day. Do you guys have access to any kind of staging and sound system? I know this has been brought up before but I am just curious if you guys had found anyone that might be able to help out.

Josh, we were in the bleachers--I am flat too old to slide down that hill. We had PERFECT sound there. I think the lack of sound was for the ground level people.

the bands, the stage, and the sound system were all a go last year, 36 hours worth of rain at an outdoor even, (in a soup bowl), kinda caused a hinderance. All is good and ready to go this year, we need some prayers for LIGHT rain to settle the sand but PLEASE don't rain for more than an hour within 24 hours of torching the thing....

As far as PR goes, that was supposed to be my responsibility, but the Greypots decided to take that on this year, along with several other things that used to fall under the realm of the Greenpots.

Jack is the PR guy.

The website is taken care of mainly by Amanda (but I update things and add pictures from time to time).
