Guys and gals. I know how hard you work NOT to step on the toes of university events--as if that is appreciated.

But now that you are really getting things together, someday the time is going to come to return burn to the right night.

Keep that idea somewhere in your hearts.

Speaking strictly for myself, and no one else involved with it, I agree... but that night is not here yet.

I still think it is a little too young to have it right around Thanksgiving. We still need it to be on a weekend night before everyone and their mom has left town to make sure we get people out. You have to remember that we don't have the bankroll that the old Bonfire had. Alot of our money comes from admissions to Burn. The time will come when I think we should move it, but it won't be for a few years.

It's a good idea on home games. When is the last day of classes before Thanksgiving?

Usually Wednesday, some profs cancel class that day while some give exams.

that sounds like a great idea for 2007.

All of the business profs cancel classes on that wednesday (I'd put an eye-roll here if I could). The number of walks they get is unreal.

Totally agreed. Get through this year and 2006 safely and better from a business perspective, and 2007 is high time to go head to head with the University.

Make people choose, and that's not a bad thing. You will win burning it at Dark 30 on that Thursday night, but you also have to be ABSOLUTELY perfect with everything you do that night.

If you do that, and I'm TOTALLY for it, it's make or break night for Student Bonfire. It either becomes and institution or it goes away ENTIRELY on that night.

I think the university moving the home t.u. yell practice back to midnight makes sense. Not many people will come back to CS on thanksgiving at dark thirty just for yell. If they have it at midnight, a lot more people would be back in town & show up for yell. This would open a window for Bonfire and I'm sure a lot of people would file out of burn and head straight to Kyle for Yell (maybe a pit stop on Northgate).

Assuming Yell is at midnight, I dont see having Bonfire the same night as a conflict. Possibly a benefit.

I would like to see people park on campus then ride our busses to burn, watch Bonfire then ride back for yell.

t.u. yell has been done at 8pm by TAMU.

To get support from members of groups like the former yell leaders, we'd have to avoid a conflict. Plus, the team would be at yell, and I don't think it's right to marginalize attendance at an event held largely for the team.

With that in mind, burn would have to be late, like at 11pm or so, with a rush of attendees coming straight from campus. However, with the later start, you will have greater difficulty policing alcohol and drunkenness since you'll be cutting into bar and party time.

I know all of that, but I can see a time when Student Bonfire would draw more that the one at Kyle. I know that I would not drive over the night before-just to come back the next day for a game--just for a yell practice. I have done it and will continue to do it when I can for Bonfire.

This year I will probably miss since I have not found anyone to go with, and I have to plan way in advance to get a sitter for Dad.

I think yell should be later (midnight) (since i am the grand marshall of the universe) and we have burn before yell (around 9PM)

I don't give a damn about what the University thinks. But our team might consider that a little rude.

Imho, we should stick with the T-5 burn date unless Yell is rescheduled.

I think you hit the nail on the head 3GA. I would skip the drive for yell, but making the drive for Bonfire would be a totally different story.

I don't think it is time to go head to head yet, but once you have a year with the logisitcal problems--parking, sound, light, and everything running smoothly, then the time might be there. Or at least the time to try to make your time either before or after theirs but on the same night.
