That's a damn fine lookin stack...I have to admit...It's not Old Army Oak, but this pine stack is the best looking of the student bonfires!

2 questions:
1. Are they still putting all logs on the ground? In other words, are the interior logs just longer and not wedged in like the late '90s bonfires?
2. Since its difficult to tell in pictures, how does the size of this stack compare to late on-campus stacks?

yes, all logs are on the ground. Just some are taller than others and cut to look like the wedding cake style. The hight of the stack is about 40 feet. That pic does a good job of making it seem like a lot more.
The top of centerpole in that picture is 49 feet.

Good looking stack. I think Bonfire may gradually get bigger & bigger in the coming years. Kudos to the people that have kept this tradition alive.

Bigger and bigger in participation and support, maybe. But it's hard to find trees higher than 35' in any kind of quantity. Since all the logs touch the ground, I highly doubt the stack itself will ever be any bigger than this year.

Man that looks awesome. Great job. I'd be interested in hearing how it compares in size to the campus ones also... this makes me think Bonfire may survive after all. Whoop!
