As to a potential pardon for his fellow Aggies?

Dear Governor Perry,
I am sure you are aware of the events that occurred this weekend in Bryan regarding the Aggie Student Bonfire (ASB) and it's leaders receiving citations for igniting this year's Bonfire. If you have not had time to review the facts, an injunction was filed against ASB by County Attorney Jim Kuboviak
on Friday, Nov. 18th in an attempt to keep ASB from lighting Bonfire on the 19th. Through an exhaustive day at the courthouse, the injunction was lifted, but the Burn Ban was not amended to allow for the lawful lighting of Bonfire. The leadership went ahead and lit Bonfire on the 19th and was written at least 1 citation for their actions.
I am writing to ask for your pardon of those who lit Aggie Student Bonfire. These leaders took every precaution known to them, including notification of the Fire Martial, Police, and the local judge to prevent this situation. Their only intention was to light a ceremonial Bonfire in remembrance of the Bonfires before it and, as you know, to celebrate the game between Texas A&M and the University of Texas.
I hope that you see as I do, that these Aggies did the right thing in lighting this year's Bonfire. I hope that you chose to support the Aggie Spirit that these students displayed in lighting Bonfire despite overwhelming adversity. Lastly, I hope that you chose to stand by the right, despite the sacrifices it takes, and not let others quell the Aggie Spirit alive in these students.

Dear Mr. (Opie03),
Thank you for taking the time to contact the Office of the Governor.
Governor Perry loved the Aggie Bonfire when it was on campus and was an active participant in its construction as a Red Pot. It is important to note, however, that the judicial system is independent of the executive branch. As such, though the governor understands the sentiments of those who received citations, he does not have authority to resolved court-related issues. Rather, these matters must be resolved through the judiciary.
Please let us know if we may assist you in the future.
Sincerely,
Office of the Governor.
