Esau mourned his loss (that Jacob deceitfully took) and Scripture doesn't indicate anywhere that Esau was actually sorrowful towards his low view of God. His tears were aimed at the blessing he never received.

In comparison to the chapter before in Hebrews 11, Esau was not a man of faith.

I find Esau particularly interesting because Edom is one of the few areas we find evidence of YHWH worship outside of Isreal/Judea. And Elijah is particularly caustic towards the Edomites.

I'm not sure what to make of it all but it definitely aligns with the notion of an ancient lineage between them.
