No doubt about it...

I certainly like the idea of that being true. I'm not sure what the historical context is, but I'm willing to accept this on purely biased grounds.

Every Sunday we sing this in preparation for Communion:

"What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits to me? I will offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving and will call on the name of the Lord. I will take the cup of salvation and will call on the name of the Lord. I will pay my vows to the Lord now in the presence of all His people, in the courts of the Lord's house, in the midst of you, O Jerusalem."

It's funny how no one sees this as a prophecy until they want to find something they can claim is a prophecy.

Psalm 116 was sung at ever Passover meal, being one of the Hallel Psalms...The Eucharist is the NT version of the OT Passover meal.. It fits perfectly with prophecy, as the Passover meal has to continue forever, per the OT....The Jews no longer sacrifice animals at the temple during Passover, but the Catholic Church does renew the Passover meal at each and every mass, every day, for almost 2000 years...

Indeed. Jewish anti-missionaries such as Rabbi Tovia Singer have a lot to say about this.

The book of Psalms is ripe for seeing "prophecies" because it's a book of poetry and therefore has a ton of figurative language that can be creatively interpreted.

I thought of this thread today while reading Jacob's blessings:
Quote:

"Your brothers will praise you, Judah.
Your hand will be at the throat of your enemies,
and your father's children will bow down to you.
9 Judah is a lion cub.
My son, you have gone up from the prey.
Crouching like a lion,
he lies down,
Like a lioness,
who would dare rouse him?
10 The scepter will not depart from Judah,
nor the ruler's staff from between his feet,
until the one[g] comes, who owns them both,
and to him will belong the allegiance of nations.
11 Binding his donkey to the vine
and his mare's foal to its thick tendrils,
he will wash his garments in wine
and his robe in the juice of grapes.

12 His eyes are darker than wine
and his teeth whiter than milk."
