First my Faith is stronger now that it has ever been. Second I want to know for reasons I will outline after the question.
Did anyone attend AG type services in the early 80s and remember a traveling preacher type visiting your church to show what was going on with the Soviets in Afghanistan and a few allied countries like Syria? I was a young child but remember my parents being shook up by the presentation and I was also scared. He showed things the soviets were doing to locals but the thing that I am most interested in was an equipment/vehicle I remember him showing. Specifically a claim that the Soviets had a machine to make tunnels. He had pics of a machine that I would love to see again. I remember as a kid wondering how it could possibly work. Nothing like an actual tunnel boring machine used in construction.
If you remember any chance you have a name or a way to find what was presented? I know this is 1 in million.
My interest in the above was sparked by finding out recently that the CIA had a program that probably started in the 1960s to infiltrate various denominations that were active in sending missionaries. This was of course a valuable cover story. But it later changed into something more that was intended to capture and shape opinions.
