Quote:

Yum Brands, parent company of KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and Habit Burger & Grill, announced today plans to designate two brand headquarters in the United States one in Plano, Texas, and one in Irvine, Calif.

The decision will relocate the KFC U.S. corporate headquarters from Louisville, Ky., to the Plano office, where the KFC and Pizza Hut Global teams currently exist. Taco Bell and Habit Burger & Grill will remain in Irvine, Calif.
Additionally, all U.S.-based remote employees will be asked to relocate to the campus where their work happens.

The relocation of approximately 100 KFC U.S. corporate roles will occur throughout the next six months, while the relocation of 90 remote positions will take place over the next 18 months. The company said employees will receive relocation and transition support.
In a release, Yum Brands said the decision was made to "foster greater collaboration among brands and employees."

"These changes position us for sustainable growth and will help us better serve our customers, employees, franchisees and shareholders," Yum chief executive officer David Gibbs said in a statement. "Ultimately, bringing more of our people together on a consistent basis will maximize our unrivaled culture and talent as a competitive advantage. I'm confident this is another important step in growing our iconic restaurant brands globally."

KFC's history traces back to 1930 in North Corbin, Kentucky, when Harland Sanders first started serving fried chicken at his cafe, Sanders' Caf. The first Kentucky Fried Chicken franchised location opened in 1952 in Salt Lake City.
The KFC U.S. headquarters, also known as the "White House" because of its resemblance to the U.S. president's home, were built in Louisville in 1970 and expanded into a second building in 1986. It houses both corporate offices and a museum paying homage to Sanders. Yum Brands and the KFC Foundation will continue to maintain corporate offices in Louisville.

It's just office consolidation, makes complete sense. The Taco Bell and Pizza Hut HQ was a block or so west of where I worked in Plano for a decade.

Weird to think that KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell were purchased by PepsiCo to generate market share during the Cola Wars and then spun off into Yum Brands, which is now even larger than PepsiCo.

That just goes to show you most CEOs are idiots. Most of them make changes like that one and this one in the OP because it looks like they are doing something. Or to bump the stock price on the news so they can sell or exercise their options.

Can't disagree with you there.

PepsiCo is losing market to Coke. Hey let's buy really popular fast food restaurant chains and force them to only serve Pepsi! Yeah that's the ticket!

I was too cheap to buy Coke in College Station during my lolpoor days so I bought RC from Albertson's.

Had an aunt who was addicted to Tab. She frank like ten to twelve of them a day. Our folks were not big on soda pops but our grandparents were. Big Red vanilla floats, A&W root beer floats, Mountain Dew (back when it was real sugar and caffeine laced.) My Granddad was a big fan of Fresca with Burnett's White Satin gin.

When it was still open, the original Dr. Pepper plant in Dublin, TX had the BEST Dr. Pepper floats. Dr. Pepper made with real cane sugar and Blue Bell Vanilla ice cream. You can't beat that!

Really sucked when they closed it down due to some regulatory BS about them selling their original Dr. Pepper's outside of their 30 mile perimeter or whatever it was.

It might be KFC now, but the recipe was shared by Col. Sanders himself during a visit to a cafe in San Antonio. He gave the secret recipe to Earl Able cafe because he was impressed with the fried chicken he was served.

Maybe TFC is not too far off of the truth.

Sanders used to spit the 'new' gravy out because it was water and powder, he hated it.

Random trivia: Sanders didn't own any franchises in the US, but he owned all of the franchises in Canada.

Based on what exactly? PepsiCo owns Gatorade, Frito Lay, Quaker Oats and just about every market leading chip brand on the planet.

PepsiCo revenue in 2024 was $90 billion vs Yum's $7B
