Any future year set for Ukraine funding is way out of line. It unnecessarily ties hands in negotiations. Each year should be determined by its immediate context and international sistuation.

Speaking of Rand, I heard him on the radio this morning and he loves all of Trump's picks except the DOL lady because she has advocated for closed shops and revoking all right to work laws in the country. A little surprised this is who Trump picked for DOL. Rand says he intends to vote against her nomination, unless she has changed her tune. He says even if she says the words, he is not sure he will believe her based on her record.

Take a look at who created it and the cross reference it to when each of the senators have an election. 6 years from 2030 is 2024 meaning all senators currently in the Senate could "benefit" from Ukraine continuing to get money.

Line item is the way to go. At most lump a couple of line items into a bill for negotiation purposes, but the "one big beautiful bill" nonsense is exactly what causes government to be too big and bloated.

Interesting that there was funding for Ukraine in the senate bill considering the broader backdrop and now Trump's endorsement of the 'one big beautiful bill' approach this morning. Almost like they're related…

House bill should go forward and get the tax cuts done now vs later. Deficit will be handled in a different channel.

$36T in debt and running almost $2T in annual deficit. Point me to the plan that impacts this deficit.

it's overwhelmingly not FWA in any traditional sense it's just funding for policies and activities the admin doesn't like being unilaterally cut by Captain Ketamine and His Wonder Teens.

You still have no evidence that less money will ever be spent by the federal government. Sure, they may even identify and stop major areas of wasteful and fraudulent spending, but while you're celebrating that, they will come up with "productive" ways to spend the savings. The problem is Trump and half the people he took with him were Democrats 15 minutes ago and still believe in Keynesian economics. He's still going to be part of the problem.
