The Voice of America was founded in 1942 during WWII. It has no place in 2025. It's now a woke, liberal agency and deserves to be shut down.

Trump ordered that functions of VOA be 'eliminated to the maximum extent' in an executive order

President Donald Trump ordered the dismantling of news agency Voice of America, the U.S.'s state-funded media outlet that Trump has railed against for promoting biased media reports.
"Voice of America has been out of step with America for years. It serves as the Voice for Radical America and has pushed divisive propaganda for years now," a senior White House official told Fox News Digital.

Trump signed an executive order on Friday that commands the dismantling of seven government offices, including the United States Agency for Global Media, which is the parent company of Voice of America (VOA) and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

"The non-statutory components and functions of the following governmental entities shall be eliminated to the maximum extent consistent with applicable law, and such entities shall reduce the performance of their statutory functions and associated personnel to the minimum presence and function required by law," the EO reads.

Good Trump.

VOA established by statute, signed into law by Ford, so Trump can't completely eliminate it, only congress can.

But, unless congress passes a spending bill that specifically allocates money to VOA, he can rob it of spending to almost nothing. Even if congress does pass a spending bill, Trump can fight giving VOA spending through internment.

I think one of the reasons Trump has such a loyal following is because he's the first president to ever try to really dismantle the deep state. Other Republican presidents just paid lip service. Trump actually has the balls to fight the left and that ain't easy.

In truth you are not entirely wrong. Eliminating the media propaganda which is just a mouthpiece for the swamp, so that narratives around reforming entitlements are formed and enforced is necessary before those reforms (not just fraud and waste) can be seriously debated/enacted.

Journolist, Newsguard, Ministry of Truth etc. were never really 'done away with.' They were just outsourced to operate in Europe for the most part. Gutting USAID has helped however.

This! If the Judicial Branch and Congress demands it be funded, fine, but fire everyone and hire Charlie Kirk and TPUSA to run it. Congress will quickly shut it down at that point.

Serious about shrinking the Federal Government?

He supported a congressional budget that increases government spending and increases the deficit 2.8 trillion dollars. When we talk about "shrinking" the FG, isn't the overall aim to decrease spending and reduce the deficit?

I don't see how firing a percentage of government employees and getting rid of government funded crap like this is some kind of win if spending keeps increasing.

To me it's like he's a magician. Look what all I'm getting rid of with the left hand, while the right hand is stuffing money right back in.
