The military establishment is no less swampy than the rest of Washington, especially after four years of Biden. Of course the military-industrial complex was always going to fight back. Trump and Hegseth need to keep doing exactly what they are doing and separating the wheat from the chaff.

I've hired some duds in my day, the bigger mistake was keeping them on instead of cutting my losses.

With the billions of dollars being cut, why wouldn't a company go to a person in a position of prominence and promise more wealth than you have ever had in your life if you only help a little bit with damaging information? I am sure there is a price for most people. I believe we have witnessed first-hand accounts of sons, brothers and sisters-in-laws making money from foreign companies

Hiring people can be hit and miss despite vetting and best efforts. It's life for anyone who's ever done it.
Cutting your losses when you know the hire is not working is the right thing to do. For everyone.

Eventually - you do have to get it right, and a first round mulligan is not an open door to more. But holding on and not wanting to admit an error is a larger mistake.

Seems strange that they were celebrating a trillion dollar defense budget like 2 weeks ago and now say the deep state is entrenched in the Pentagon. Maybe this year they'll pass an audit for once

So…. The deep state forced Hegspeth to be a dumbass and share operational details with his friends and family? Makes perfect sense. It's time to admit he's the disaster that many were concerned about when he was nominated. There's a reason Trump had to twist so many arms to get him confirmed.

Not every hire is going to be a hit, for sure. But having to let go three within the first 90 days is a bit telling.
