Judge Deborah Boardman said during the sentencing hearing that while Roske's actions were "reprehensible," the judge also considered a string of mitigating factors, including that Roske "spontaneously confessed to and cooperated with police."

"I believe Ms. Roske understands that what she did was terribly wrong. I find her remorse sincere," Boardman said.

DOJ prosecutor Coreen Mao said the sentence "must send the very strong, very clear message that the ends never justify violent means."

Boardman, a Biden appointee, said she factored into the sentence her concern about Trump's executive order requiring transgender inmates to be detained in prisons that correspond to their sex at birth.

The judge also sentenced Roske to a lifetime of supervised release. The DOJ is able to appeal the sentence because it is well under the sentencing guidelines.

Of course the little freak only gets 8 years because he wanted to kill a Republican appointed Supreme Court justice. Had he been going after Sotomayor, he would have gotten the max.

And of course the Biden judge is "concerned" that he might have a hard time in prison because the perp conveniently now IDs as trans. No doubt he gave the slap on the wrist for that reason as well.

It is ridiculous how Nicholas Roske, who now goes by Sophie, received only 8 years in prison for attempted murder. This is one of numerous examples of how progressive criminal justice reforms have weakened deterrence, demoralized police departments, and increased crimes. Consequently, lawlessness, anarchy, chaos, and violence have increased in counties with progressive prosecutors.

Just another of the many unqualified Biden appointees pushed through the Senate Judiciary Committee by Dick Durbin. Notably - when the committee vote occurred, Lindsay Graham voted "present". She got out of committee 11-10.

We will be paying the price in our judicial system for Biden's presidency for decades. The number of unqualified judges put on the bench by Biden is sickening.

The good news is the Federal system has a minimum 8 year sentence here. We all know this Liberal judge would have sentenced zero prison time if that was an option. Sophie will have a great time

That's why vigilantism might especially be necessary in areas they control. Right now you have an aggressive right central govt restoring order from above but that's rare.
