SF i suing food mfgs for ultra-processed foods. Can you imagine our choices if SF liberals get to choose what we eat? First we'll lose Doritos, next no beef. :-)

It seems the more appropriate suit would be to sue their consumers for "crappy" choices. Or just pass laws against selling "evil" foods in CA. But they know unpopular that would be, wouldn't stand a chance.

I hope they win, let them eat Tofu, after the food mfgs cut them off.

This is horrible news. As a poverty stricken college student able to afford one decent meal a day, Cokes and Tom's Cheezit crackers with peanut butter were my sustenance back in the day.

I guess this means I can sue Ford because I don't like the color of exterior paint colors? Or sue the 12th Man Foundation because they changed the color of Maroon? Or sue…

So people can't choose to eat healthy?!? There are no fruits and vegetables in SF stores, just processed foods?!

Liberals are the absolute dumbest creatures on the planet.

Aside from the lawfare aspect and people being unwilling to eat better, that stuff they put in food really does mess with your body. Most people don't know that or care enough.

Yes, but per usual libs don't want to pass laws to make certain foods illegal. They want to shakedown the manufacturers of LEGAL products. Typical leftist money grubbing scum taking from producers.

Bottom line is that leftists don't believe in freedom. Freedom means choices. They don't like when people have the freedom to choose. You see, THEY are the enlightened ones that know what's best for everyone else. Since people won't choose "correctly" they must use force. Convincing people and making arguments in consideration of their free will is just too hard. And that's why leftist ideas always devolve into tyranny.

And yet these same people (liberals) apparently do not want to limit junk foods for SNAP recipients. I assume the SNAP recipients are Democratic voters.

Trump cut the welfare benefits and social security for illegals, the Cali Dems have to get their dummy dollars from somewhere.

Mississippi initiated tobacco litigation. This is essentially a similar type of litigation as states try to get money under the theory of making people healthier and/or forcing the manufacturer to pay money to the state for their medical bills. All of this type of litigation is a bad idea and an attempt to take away choice.

had a nice discussion with the young lady slanging weed in Big Sky last week. He dad owns / owned a pizza place in Boulder, CO and we got to discussing the sugar tax.

https://bouldercolorado.gov/services/sugar-sweetened-beverage-tax

It of course cut into her dada's business and something he generally frowned upon as government overreach. To work around, they sourced the sugary stuff from the nearest place without the tax.

To the OP, lawfare lawsuits are another tax on consumers and an order of magnitude more costly than tariffs.

BTW - Pizza parlor dad put it on Fox News during lunch rushes. People would constantly complain for them to change it. Evidently he shrugged and said he lost the remote or similar. next time I happen to be in Boulder I may have to sort out what place it was.

The title is interesting. While I agree with the premise, insinuating that liberals are the only sue-happy people is ridiculous. How many lawsuits has the current head of the GOP brought forth on companies and individuals?

I agree with this, but don't care -- I call it LJAT* Derangement Syndrome. 5X the number of federal lawsuits and 10X the number of injunctions compared to Biden's first year.

The experiment known as "The United States" is basically over. There's nothing united. We are simply clans living in moderate complacency with one another. Eventually, one side will have enough the other, and that's when the proverbial **** will finally hit the fan. That moment is moving up at warp speed.

I disagree. If you have ever traveled internationally and found out their versions of our junk food and candies etc.. all taste better, have no bull**** in then and they generally cost less.

It's ****ing infuriating.

Lawsuits are probably needed to get this to change.

I'm not sure how well the "deceitful tactics" accusation will hold up. When was the last time Frito-Lay or Coca-Cola marketed their products as being good for you?
