I'm highlighting this article as an example of how effective the Democrats are at subtle gaslighting. The examples here are what you see throughout media to paint a picture that doesn't or never existed. And much of the public will just scan over this and take it at face value.

Background of the article:

Quote:

Centrist politicians are expected to be evenhanded, staid and boringthey are the ones who bridge the extremes of their party and turn ideas into something that can get passed, leaving the loudest folks unhappy. But a crop of centrist Democrats, like Kelly, are increasingly deciding to dig in their heels and fight. These centrists aren't just confronting Trump, they also don't want to cede control over the party's agenda to progressives who have typically been the ones with the louder microphone.

Example 1: where the "old rules" were Democrats getting everything they wanted and political norms reflected that. They are simply mad that Trump has upset the rules they owned.

Quote:

The shift comes after Trump's return to power earlier this year set off chaos within the Democratic Party. Democratic base voters were furious at what they perceived as weak leadership. Many increasingly feel like Democrats can no longer play by old rules because Trump has decimated political norms.

Example 2: lol at liberal activists who have been pushing compromise for years. Except for one example listed later the only compromise that has happened in this country in recent decades are positions that favor Democrat policy.

Quote:

Centrists are also seeking to counter what they say is the left's focus on social issues, including the topic of transgender women competing in sports, which centrists say has hurt Democrats in competitive races. This group has argued the party needs to stop ceding ground to Republicans on key issues like border security and law and order. They want the party to keep the focus on kitchen-table issues. Progressive have also campaigned on affordability.

To do that, centrists have become more willing to take on hardball tactics, adopt a populist tone andin some casesa resistance to compromise that liberal activists have been pushing for years. Increasingly, they are even distancing themselves from their own party.

Example 3: This one simply defies reality. The Democrats have passed trillions in new spending and government mandated programs under Obama and Biden. They got Obamacare. They had/have their own personal money laundering scheme funded by citizens (USAID). They swung for the fences on GND, USCBDC, and a host of other far left wing initiatives. The only thing that fully stopped the latter were 2 Democrat Senators no longer in office, but we still got a permanent $2T in additional annual spending because of them just under Biden. This guy is just pissed that they didn't get full blown communism done...yet.

Quote:

Ruben Gallego, Kelly's fellow Arizona senator, said in an interview the party's brand took a hit because when Democrats had power, they failed to take big swings. Democrats do a "gazillion checks and rechecks in making decisions. We basically kill momentum by process," he said.

Example 4: the lone actual compromise we've seen in recent history, but then the most blatant lie of all at the end of this paragraph. Just a lolwut comment.

Quote:

Every major Democratic candidate for Senate, including centrists, raged at a small group of Democrats who made a deal with Republicans to reopen the government without any concessions on extending healthcare subsidies. The fact that Democrats had united in shutting down the government in the first place to try to get the subsidies was a significant shift from years past when the party had resisted using government shutdowns as a negotiating tactic.

Dems are about agitating and propaganda. They're masters at it.

A guy committing sedition against the President of the United States is a centrist?

Democrats continue to move towards a hive mentality where everyone must think exactly the same way or else. Differing thoughts are unwelcome in the modern Democrat party. This is why you see Democrats blame everything on Trump at this point, that is their default position. Questions about how things could have been handled better by Democrats are not allowed, self reflection is toxic to this bunch.

Adam Corolla has a nice bit about it how they create all this chaos and say "don't you want all this to stop, vote the Dems back in power and it will stop."

It's essentially political extortion. What's ironic is that once they're back in power not only does the chaos not stop, it accelerates. The difference is they simply don't report it and the legacy media happily obliges.

The border is a perfect example.
