It's weird right? The morning of the El Paso shutdown, which was unprecedented, it was only getting a brief mention while all the rest of the talking was on the non-existent updates in the Nancy case.

Iran intel undoubtedly knew and plenty Americans with mediocre clearance surely knew...

Having this leaked in the press is intentional for the public to know, so that pressure is put on someone (likely Iran to fall in line).

This. 15-20 years ago, if we really wanted to make a country pucker we would deploy one of our subs that we equipped with a plethora of tomahawks.

I can't imagine what kind of deterrent we have now.

We used to do stuff in the 1980's like sneaking a carrier (USS America CV-66) in Norwegian fjords behind storm fronts, etc to operate close to the Russian border. Admittedly, the sat coverage has improved 10-fold, but I bet we have a few tricks left up our sleeve if we really wanted to.

From the "how we found it" portion:

"I have been trying to pin down the location of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln ever since the US Navy announced three weeks ago that it had entered the Gulf region."

So we announced it was there three weeks ago, then this guy used a program to scour satellite imagery to confirm that at some unspecified time relatively recently, it was in fact there.
