Block CFO Amrita Ahuja said it more plainly in the tech company's financial guidance: "We see an opportunity to move faster with smaller, highly talented teams using AI to automate more work."
Every month that goes by the more I see how middle managers are leveraging AI to summarize meeting into their presentation to their bosses.
I have 2-3 people above me that do nothing but send me AI generated call summaries from other groups in the company asking for support on a project. They don't even come up a request or anything, just foward whatever Gemini created. When I send them information they just have Gemini reword it and send it on. These people are 1000% replaceable.
I think what Jack is focusing on is reimagining the workplace structure. Many companies are trying to add AI in and replace very specific roles and having trouble hitting the same metrics or having employees use the new tools. Jack is looking at it from a perspective of, if we have all these tools how would we build the team from the ground up? Time will tell who is right.
Idea creators, subject matter experts, and people facing roles will dominate in the future.
