Was John Bolton right after all?

One reason I didn't like Bolton was that he was always clamoring for war with Iran.

Trump has now taken kinetic action to destroy all of Irans nuclear weapon capabilities and ambitions.

It seems Bolton was right.

And that begs the question, is preventing a nuclear Iran worth the cost, and risk of an escalated war? Some recent events like destroying Hamas and other protests in Iran make it seem like good timing, but there is always the risk of being drawn into a multi-year conflict if Iran were to get support from China, Russia, etc.

But Russia has their own problems in Ukraine, and recently China has purged a bunch of military leadership. And Maduro is out too.

Now the likelihood of Iran getting extra support in terms of money, supplies, or intelligence is far lower.

And the risk of a nuclear religiously fanatic Iran may be far greater. Although would be of more concern to Isreal. But if a nuke went off in Isreal, we'd likely be drawn into conflict anyway, except not on our terms.

Bolton would want a full scale invasion and occupation.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

Yeah he's old school and wants more like a Dick Chaney type invasion. Trump / Israel use precise weapons to get to the point, no need for ground wars

Bolton knew war was the only way. He was right.

Bolton thought an Iraq style invasion and regime change was the only way to do that. Trump is trying something new. We'll see if Trump is right or if Bolton was correct again.

If we do not tie one or both hands behind our military's back, then yes it is worth it. No military force in the world can draw us into a multi-year war if we do not tie our own hands. If we fight a political war then shame on the politicians. The world is safer and we are safer in this country with a regime change in Iran.

This was never about a nuclear threat. That excuse is very effective, as we see it all over F16.

There are clear geopolitical and petro trade reasons for US to strike Iran, and some personal reasons to retaliate on behalf of Isreal for Oct 7. But that isn't really strong enough to get wide swaths of Americans to fall in line. But WMDs and nuke threats, well that works every time, like clockwork!

Blah, Blah, Blah, "War for oil!"

Been hearing that since 1991, but only when a Republican is in office.

It's what should have been done in Iraq.

It's what should succeed in Iran.

Here's to hoping it goes that way.

More than one thing can be true. Iran is/was most certainly trying to develop a nuclear weapon, and has threatened neighbors with annihilation. Their ties to radical Islamist groups willing to use such weapons or associated technology is undeniable. The current situation of them aiding Russia against Ukraine and aiding China just makes for a terrific bonus and certainly slows down out biggest geopolitical adversaries.

I think it is really less about an actual nuclear threat and mostly geopolitical. And like zero percentage about "petro trade" outside of a geopolitical context.

The main win for USA is that Iran is legitimately evil, there are direct geopolitical benefits, and indirect benefits as our current leaders are demonstrating that we are not *******.

I still wish there was a check and balance mechanism on the commander in chief's ability to initiate major military action without declaring "war".

Bolton is an idiot. And yes it's completely worth any risk to stop the world's largest terror producer from obtaining nukes.

Ask China and Russia what they think about the US removing Maduro and killing the Ayatollah. Narco terrorism and nuke threats wouldn't even come up. This is just as much about taking a shot across their bow on trade and military alliance. But thats too complex for the average American. They need something very simple like "drugs and nukes bad, must stop them".

Timing was everything here

Russia too weak from years of bleeding out into Ukraine

China reeling from
Military purges and being kicked out of NA and loss of Venezuelan oil

Devastating drought destabilizing the regimes power and leading to a growing resistance movement

Now was always going to be the time to clean house and take advantage of our enemies weakness and start picking off their Allies who keep them in enough oil to want to go adventuring

This was textbook Trump.

Just read his books. He thinks fast, acts fast. He's not someone who likes things to get strung out. He is a man of action. It doesn't matter if it's business, politics or even military action. He's either all-in or he's all-out.

And the world has taken notice. It's not a coincidence that many of these countries around the world are chanting Trump's name. He doesn't **** around.

He played too nice his first term.

I'm glad he's not now.

Can you imagine the response that Kamala would've had to the Ayatollah's threats. "Now you stop that" in her drunk voice. Gurgle gurgle sip wine. "He doesn't respect me as a woman!"

Thank God, she really never had a chance despite the lies from the media
