Honestly, this is where we need to be if you are from Texas
For those who still don't believe this is Obama's third term, remember when he said, "Under my plan...electricity rates will necessarily skyrocket." Thanks, Joe! pic.twitter.com/XVUJj5fnjG

Not sure what you are trying to say. I assume most people, Dem or GOP dont want higher gas prices. Don't know, and dont care how it affects the politics. I just know that from my personal interests, higher oil prices are a good thing, up to a point. I think $70-75 is the sweet point for Texas interests

The WTI price reflects the price of USA-produced crude oil, especially the light sweet stuff.
eta: we import 35-40% of our crude.

Not enough to put any trophies in the trophy case.

I understand but we also export and our net is about even. Also understand WTI and what it means. My point is that our prices will fluctuate but not as dramatically as it will in other parts of the world based on what happens in the Middle East.

Gas went up sixty cents overnight.
Does anyone know if this is the only jump or if we should expect more to come?

Anticipated replacement costs for the next shipment. If those replacement costs are not as high as anticipated, the retail gasoline business is quick to adjust prices because it is so competitive. Plus this is the time of year when refineries switch over from heating oil to more gasoline for the late spring and summer demand.

Oh ok. To clarify, I consider your views as leftist politically, so I assumed you are happy about higher energy/gas prices (though I think it is temporary). Democrats-leftists want higher energy prices as a matter of policy, and have for many years. That was my point.
I think the surge in European gas prices in particular (NG) are going to be a problem for them quickly, unfortunately. I am not interested in debating Texas' interests specifically.
