We have a threads for sequential military action and politics of the 2026 Iran war. Unfortunately relevant post regarding Logistical, technological, industrial, and geopolitical aspects of this war are being removed the Iran military thread- which in context is understandable.

However the fact the US is running low on anti-air assets 3 days into this thing while China is quietly watching while its oil supply is potentially being choked off from the Persian Gulf is beyond scary.

What is also scary is our relatively feeble replacement rates for critical weapons such as anti air interceptors and anti drone weapons. Yeah we make great hardware but not enough of it despite our spending. Warfare is changing fast and these issues are a huge part of the story.

We've been here before in 1944, one on one, Sherman tanks had little chance against a Panther tank. Fortunately we could build 5 Shermans per 1 Panther. That was a winning formula to bad that doesn't apply in 2026.

We got logistical and production problems and better get them fixed.

Lasers is the way to go. They are not one shot and done. Glad we are getting a chance to see them in action and seeing their success.

Want to fix our production problems? We are going to need more tariffs in order to build our manufacturing capabilities.

any prolonged war would be a problem for us. we have liquidated much of our reserves with the conflict in ukraine as well as the 12 day war in 2025. we just don't replace them fast enough and it is an economic and mathematical numbers game. each interceptor costs a fortune, cheap one way 25k drones do not. that is why iran uses waves of cheap and old tech before firing hypersonic. our systems our effective but very costly and not reproduced fast enough.

I remember reading a few years ago that our Air Force was in shambles. Readiness was damn low for equipment and pilots. I've never really heard much about that again but there were some detailed articles on it probably 3+ years ago. No idea if Trump's focus on military readiness has improved that to the point that it's no longer an issue or if it just doesn't get reported anymore.

Reduce the procurement nightmare & spend money being wasted currently in bureaucracy on government-supported manufacturing infrastructure. This is a matter of national security.

Create career readiness programs that push kids back into manufacturing in areas where we need pipelines of workers. Invest in Americans.
