• 2020-covid and the shutdowns were way more draconian than in the US.
• Law of supply and demand saw demand drop beginning to recover by late 2021
• Russia invades Ukraine massively disrupting energy supplies
• Prices go up by a lot in a short time
• Many EU nations lessened their very high taxes on energy to help alleviate the price increases

Even when supply is plentiful, EU prices are about two to three times what the US prices are. Why? High taxes.

They're happy. They see ICE rounding up illegals, less tax dollars wasted, and government downsizing.

Simple formula using just gasoline so not a true 3-2-1 crack spread but close.


$100/bbl for oil doesn't equate to double digit gasoline prices. Europe governments are socialist and taxes are super high. Most of the double digit cost for fuel is going to their socialist government which is crazy. They quit oil exploration concentrating on green energy. Such foolish behavior.


Example:

42 gals in a barrel of oil

$4.00 gasoline in USA

42x$4.00 = $168 per barrel

$168 - $100 =$68.00 spreads. Oil companies expect average $35 depending on season.
