The 25th amendment states

Section 4 (Involuntary Removal): The Vice President and a majority of the Cabinet can declare the President unable to discharge their duties, making the Vice President the Acting President. If the President contests this, Congress decides the issue.

Clearly Congress cannot invoke the 25th amendment, so what is Rep. Melanie Stansbury doing?

We do not need these distractions. Congress either fish or cut bait.

They aren't ignorant of it. They don't care.

It's about establishing a narrative

Democrats proudly put a woman on the Supreme Court who doesn't know what a woman is. Considering that reality, I have little confidence in Democrats understanding the Constitution or defending it even if they did.

So they can say they're doing something for optics but keep actually doing nothing. Thats the sole qualification for Congress (both houses) regardless of political affiliation.

Dems know that their base has absolutely zero understanding of how their government works and that their lapdog pet MSM won't call them out so they're free to say all sorts of dumb things like this to create headlines that make it look like they're "doing something" during an election cycle.

Rep. Melanie Stansbury and the Democrats are not ignorant of the US Constitution. They only care about opposing President Trump and the Republicans.

The bill does not attempt to invoke the 25th Amendment - it attempts to establish a "bipartisan" commission to take the place of the cabinet with respect to the 25th Amendment. And the existing 25th Amendment already provides this allowance.

Some republicans pushed non-binding resolutions calling on Harris to invoke the 25th against Biden. Not the same thing.

Maybe read the bill (and the 25th Amendment)?

This.

The dems are just piling up narratives. Mostly flat out lies…

ICE is killing people just randomly; ICE is unhinged…

We lost the war in Iran…. Even though it's been completely one-sided in our favor in every way….

Trump is not competent and clearly has no cognitive ability…..

Trump caused high gas prices and massive inflation, while both are still lower than under biden……

Every one of these has been parroted by the dems and the left. Every one of them is a lie. They don't care. This is their strategy, and it is working.

As I wrote.
The Vice President and a majority of the Cabinet can declare the President unable to discharge their duties, making the Vice President the Acting President. If the President contests this, Congress decides the issue.

Quote:

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session.

Seems like there is an issue only if the President does not accept the VP/cabinet declaration. Not much wiggle room for a Congressional "bipartisan" committee.

This essentially happened at the end to Biden but it took getting into the campaign to do it and it still didn't result in him being removed early.

Once his dementia was shown live on air for the world to see during that last debate, the DNC and the media declared Biden suddenly unfit for office and forced him out of the race. Their lies and gaslighting were no longer sufficient to cover everything up.

One of the biggest scandals in POTUS history.

Your thread title and this sentence

Quote:

certainly suggest that you think/thought they were trying to invoke the 25th with this bill and, hence, they were ignorant of the Constitution. And again, the bill attempts to replace the cabinet's role with a bipartisan commission; per existing 25th allowance.

Now the bill also directs this commission conduct "an examination" of the President. Not sure how they can mandate this or expect any sitting president to be forced to submit to any such examination.

He shouldn't have been president, but he could walk and talk. If the 25th is initiated by the cabinet, all the president has to do is send something that says he's capable of fulfilling his duties. Then you need 2/3 of both houses to vote him out. I don't see congress getting to 2/3 to remove an elected president unless they're laid up somewhere not able to speak/move.
