Democrats have lost three reps within a week. Don't remember that happening before.

Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

They were already trying to brush him aside in Atlanta last year. I am curious if somehow the governor can appoint his interim replacement. I assume not.

Full disclosure: I'd never heard of him until news of his passing today. Prayers for his loved ones in any case.

Depends on how close to Atlanta you are.

It's not his age which is shocking, nor him dying while in office, it's the length of his tenure in Congress. Term limits are WAY overdue!

this... these old farts need to step aside anyway, there are plenty of younger folks that can do that job and do it alot better. the old guys need to enjoy their life and families and what not. Unfortunately, the young bucks are harder to control and thats the real issue at hand

For the House they hold special elections to finish the term. It is US Senate that most Governors can appoint finish a term.

Clearly hasn't spent enough time in Savannah or DeKalb County.

He ran an advertising company for 25 years before full time Rep.

He's had a leg up on Bernie who failed as a carpenter and house painter before becoming a multi millionaire in politics.
