For the common man (or woman) little has changed yet. World's highest inflation, average wage much less than the cost of food alone.

Last I saw, hope is for the economy to turn around next year. With petro companies investing.

A lot depends on Vnz leadership.

But Trump has given hope to many, which is much better than what they are used to. Some hope is much better than no hope.

Trump is changing the geopolitical power structure and unapologetically putting America back on top. This is a different world than it was back in January of 2025. Amazing how much has tilted in America's favor in such a short amount of time.

The interesting thing to me was how much cross border trade went on between the US and Venezuela despite all the political tension.

I know several NGOs estimate the poverty rate at nearly 80%.

Being able to fly to Miami is not going to put much of a dent in that.

I could see a bounce of the autocratic lows but the structural issues at work will likely make it the same old frustrating LatAm banana republic.

I am sure some charismatic socialist champion of the poor will be back a the helm soon blaming the Americans for all the problems of their nation.

The cost of Operation Absolute Resolve, along with the geopolitical and commercial interests, make it a clear victory. A calculated success.

Unfortunately, the same can't be said for Operation AIPAC Fury. If Trump can cut losses there, he can still preserve his legacy.

UAE leaving OPEC should help with this, too.

Can you imagine how much lower prices at the pump will be when all is said and done? Probably $1.50 a gallon or less.

I am curious about this because Chevron has been bringing Venezuelan oil to US refineries since 2023 when the Treasury Department waived its import restrictions. We are still more than half below our annual take in the late 2010s.

I know the majors have all said they have little interest in putting capital expenditures to work to increase Venezuelan imports because U.S. investments have been nationalized twice already and they have no confidence that it won't happen again.

The Venezuelan government is not doing much either given its terrible cash position.

All of which is bonkers because VZ could legit capitalize on the current situation and rapidly turn their economy around. Now imagine the Iran fields are substantially damaged due to a prolonged shut in while sanctions persist on Russia.

Neighbors mom is in Caracas. The boots on the ground feeling is overwhelmingly positive. Political prisoners released, power, water and food stability has returned. Direct access to and from the capital. Rural parts will take more time but the scale back of the totalitarianism has been noticeable.

Elections are when people find out what politicians stand for, and politicians find out what people will fall for.

If it gets to $2 or below and grocery prices go down before 2028 than the R candidate will win easily. Basically will be a guarentee

that said I doubt it gets that low (nation wide average). I can see $2.50 average, which will win the election as well

In Texas I can definitely see below $2 though. Hell I filled up $2.05 gallon before the war a couple times

It is funny but if Trump moved to Venezuela and ran, he would win in a landslide

He'll be too old though.
