Dogs are people too

The article covers the story where a beagle factory (3000 dogs!) is shutting down.

So sometimes activists win it looks like, and when pets are involved I'm guessing it's less about being paid to protest and more organic. I think it's interesting to note that REPUBLICANS and the Trump WH is pushing to use less animals, particularly dogs for scientific research.

Didn't I read somewhere that Muslims (and by default their DEMOCRAT admirers) are against having dogs around? There's nary a Dem mentioned in this story. Hmmm.

Will we see articles written citing PETA's and other typically left-wing groups praise the Republicans for actually addressing/taking action on their specific concerns? I for one won't hold my breath.

What kind of medical research were they being exposed to?

And, no, I don't think PETA will be regaling anyone with praises on this.

There was a LOT of medical research being done on beagles.

Beagles have been used for research for decades because their respiratory systems are the closest analog to humans. Much of the foundational testing in military chemical protective masks was done on beagles.

Different dog breeds have different respiratory systems?

From what we were briefed during training, their lung size/capacity, breathing rate, etc. is very analogous to humans. Plus, because they are bred to a standard size, results are more reproducible. And they are pretty docile and easy to handle.

I currently have an operation in a class III facility that used to house beagles for pacemaker research.

Unfortunately, it was terminal research
