Usual suspects waiting on their talking points?
I'm sure the email will be out shortly. Hell the claim on the ADP thread was that government data is untrustworthy and manipulated (don't there an R in office... And ADP isn't govt data).

4.3% unemployment

that is regarded as basically full employment

with fewer GOVERNMENT jobs- and more private sector jobs being created!

How many times do we need this rug pull to happen before we stop trusting this damn report? This has happened far too many times for y'all to have not picked up on it yet. Report comes out with big numbers backed by fuzzy estimations and incomplete data. Months later the revision comes out and show it was all a mirage. Rinse and repeat.

I also want to see where all these supposed jobs are going. So far, for the last few years, all we've seen grow is the healthcare industry as the Boomers retire and start hiring in home nurses. Those manufacturing jobs that were supposed to come flooding back? Nowhere to be seen.

Compared to previous years these numbers don't look very good in context.

April 2023 Jobs Report - 253,000
April 2024 Jobs Report - 175,000
April 2025 Jobs Report - 177,000
April 2026 Jobs Report - 115,000

AI is not going to hurt small businesses. It is going to help small businesses. A lot. A whole, whole lot.

It's like everything else....depends on the type of business.

If you're a small manufacturer, or service provider, I'd agree with you.

A buddy of mine owns a small property appraising company. He says it's just a matter of time. Another buddy owns a small graphic design firm. They've already seen a huge drop.

I am working on an AI 401A valuation company, so I believe that AI can, in fact, help small business valuation / appraisal companies.

Graphic design firms as well, you just have to step up your game. If you become an expert in using AI to create better logos, websites, etc, there will be a market for your services.

April 2023 - 230,000 Private 23,000 Government (Manufacturing +11,000)

April 2024 - 167,000 Private 8,000 Government (Manufacturing +8,000)

April 2025 - 167,000 Private 10,000 Government (Manufacturing -1,000)

April 2026 - 123,000 Private -10,000 Government (Manufacturing -2,000)

https://www.bls.gov/news.release/archives/empsit_05082026.htm

While the administration deserves credit for cutting government jobs, the number of Private jobs added is still be far the lowest in the last 4 years.

Edit fixed the numbers.

Yes, it certainly can help them. In fact, both those examples I gave are utilizing Ai.

But it's not a matter of adaptation. It's efficiency.

If 1 company can now do the work of 10....that's 9 less small businesses. The marketplace will adapt as well...

Narrative destroyer for you, as they revised last month's numbers up in this report. So last month's numbers were actually better than reported just 30 days ago.

Job growth is lop sided though.

Still, Friday's jobs report showed that last month's gains were, once again, driven in part by the health care and social assistance supersector, which added nearly 54,000 roles. Transportation and warehousing also showed some strength, bringing on more than 30,000 jobs, especially among couriers and messengers.

Tech still sucks big time.

Good news is good news, but I don't look at this as a time to celebrate. Lot to happen before we get there.

So the answer to my question was... 15 Minutes!

Now lets break this down some...
Quote:

Well it actually tracks well with the numbers reported earlier this week by the PRIVATE payroll processing firm ADP. Additionally another poster pointed out that this report used later data to revise previous data UP, not down.

Quote:

Well all of the "Home Nurses" appear to be fraud so we can't really count on those since we're cleaning that up now can we?

Quote:

Yeah that chip manufacturing facility that Elon wants to build at Gibbons Creek... The locals are right. That won't create any manufacturing jobs. Just a giant building that will appear out of nowhere and be fully staffed with robots and automation.

"Better than expected" does NOT mean "good"

When you expect it to stink to high heavens and it does not stink as much (but still stinks), it does not mean it smells of forests and rain.

Okay. From -15, we are at -12. Good news no doubt, we could easily have slid to -20.
That is the positive.

Big picture is still very negative, we are still at -12 and people are struggling.
