Emotions were running high again at CBS News.

Longtime "60 Minutes" correspondent Scott Pelley had delivered a rebuke of CBS News Editor in Chief Bari Weiss at a staff meeting Monday, accusing her of "murdering" the storied news show. He also criticized her choice of Nick Bilton as a new executive producer.

In the hours after his remarks, Weiss and other senior leaders debated how to proceed, people familiar with the matter said. The executives believed Pelley's behavior was insubordinate and a fireable offense, but decided to speak with him to discuss his future at the network.

The fraught circumstances of Pelley's departure illustrate a broader moment of crisis within CBS News and its signature show. "60 Minutes" correspondents who departed recently have accused the network of making editorial decisions for political purposes as Paramount works to close its high-stakes deal to acquire rival media company Warner Bros. Discovery.

A CBS spokesman said there is "no political interference at CBS News, not from ownership, not from Bari Weiss."

IMHO the libs at CBS News have had their way since at least the Cronkite days. Now that cooler heads at the top are trying to rein in their excesses they are stomping their feet and crying about it. Hopefully the adults in the room will prevail.

The left cannot kill the Spirit of Charlie Kirk.

They are right, there is definitely a rightward shift. That's how you get closer to independent objectivity when you are already skewed left.

I hope they clean house. Pelley made it easy, now do the rest.

Would be nice if they just decided to report the truth rather than the lies spewed by leftist progressives.
Look at the orators in our republics; as long as they are poor, both state and people can only praise their uprightness; but once they are fattened on the public funds, they conceive a hatred for justice, plan intrigues against the people and attack the democracy.

60 Minutes needs a good purging. The last thing the left wants is objectivity and fairness in news reporting. They want full editorial control so they can paint a narrative to their liking.

I'm enjoying the meltdown. They are all entitled leftists used to getting their way.

The Left's freakout over CBS fixing their leftist bias tells you everything you need to know: Despite what they say, they've known all along how important it is to dominate political narratives using the MSM.

They won't go down without a fight tears and rioting.

Would be nice if "News" shows were completely unbiased, no spin, instead of out right propaganda outlets. Perhaps CBS will be better and closer to center than the rest. We'll see!

This is effing HILARIOUS. The lack of self-awareness is genuinely astounding. Do they really believe in their warped, defective, degenerate-liberal brains that they have done anything but "make editorial decisions for political purposes" this whole damned time?

Maybe conservatives need to be more like this... Have a conniption every time our world view has a little chip removed.

It's stupid but that's how you lose your country. Just ask France.

So went another wild week at CBS News. In the past six days, "60 Minutes," its signature show, parted ways with three high-profile correspondents, turned over its top editorial and producing ranks and sparked a staff mutiny.

Just three of the show's correspondents, who introduce themselves to viewers at the start of each episode, remain: Lesley Stahl, Jon Wertheim and Bill Whitaker.

Funny they had no problem when it leaned left and they lied all the time. Now they're claiming it's leaning right for a nefarious reason when it's just righting the ship.

I love 60 Minutes.

It reminds me to change the channel from CBS to Sunday Night Football. I hate to miss a moment of Carrie's legs. One of my small joys in life in the fall.

Also reminds me to light my charcoal.

Agree. They've become so ingrained in their leftist bubbles that they think spouting leftist lies, slants and propaganda is straight down the middle objective reporting.

Funny because it's true. When I hear the 60 Minutes intro it's like Pavlov's dogs reaction. It's my cue to immediately rush into the room, if I'm not already in front of tv, and change the channel.

There is a long and distinguished list of "pretentious p***ks" who have worked or are currently employed within the legacy mainstream media, but in my mind, this MF is a first ballot hall of fame candidate for that category.

It's frustratingly funny to watch the outrage.

On the radio yesterday, I heard some guys talking about the situation at CBS. They were concerned about the influence the administration has, and how we're getting closer to a State run media because of this situation...and how scary it is.

I could only laugh. We've had case after case of Obama/Biden's admin influencing the media. We've had all types of reports showing the manipulation of Twitter, Facebook, etc...evidence of doctored video by 'reputable' established media, etc. (to the point lawsuits were filed and won/settled).

The media was widely recognized to be very left-leaning for a few decades now.

But none of that worried or concerned people.

It's only concerning because one outfit is skewing slightly more conservative...and "TRUMP!!"

I don't think the news should skew any direction. But if you're going to get your panties in a wad over CBS, you should have been worried/concerned for quite a while now.

One would have thought they learned their lesson when they fired Dan Rather and Mary Mapes, but their mistake was not forcing those two to acknowledge the memo was fabricated. They only admitted to not vetting it well enough.

Haha same...and back in my younger wilder days, it was a depressing sign that the weekend was all but over and I would start feeling a little anxiety for the work week ahead. Then it was time to place a small wager on the Sunday night NFL game for one last dopamine hit.

Wait. Did they skip over the discovery that the FBI tried to bury the laptop story? Did they skip over the editorial alterations of the 60 minutes Kamala disastrous interview. Did they skip over how they completely edited the interview to make what was a disastrous answer seem even slightly plausible?

This whole thing is a joke. It's a tantrum.

They are following the teachings of Saul Alinsky
Quotes from Saul Alinsky
  • control of what people read and listen to take control of what children learn in school
It is common knowledge that President Obama, Hillary Clinton and a previous head of the DNC were acolytes and advocates of the teachings of Saul Alinsky.

We are rapidly approaching one of his teachings which should scare the people.
  • They have the guns and therefore we are for peace and for reformation through the ballot. When we have the guns then it will be through the bullet. - Saul Alinsky
Never forget the mass murders imposed in Russia and China. Most of the news media are useful idiots bent on high salaries.

Saul Alinsky, Populist
  • then Hillary Rodham, wrote a college paper about Alinsky, leading the American Spectatorjournalist David Brockbefore his conversion from right to leftto dub her "Alinsky's daughter."
Barack Obama's Rules for Revolution: The Alinsky Model
  • Barack Obama's Rules for Revolution: The Alinsky Model examines the roots of the current administration's effort to subject America to a wholesale transformation by looking at the work of one of the President's heroesradical Chicago "community organizer" Saul Alinsky.

When you think critically about it, this is an incredibly revealing statement.

So how did the departed correspondents know that decisions about editorial content were politically motivated? Did someone tell them? ("Hey, we need you to clean this up because, uh, we're trying to get an acquisition done here, and we need to butter up the administration so they'll approve the merger".)

Or, as is infinitely more likely, is this a blind unsubstantiated accusation hurled at management because they were asking questions about content "60 Minutes" was putting out?

One thing is for sure. Pelley and the departed correspondents have no problem assigning malicious political motivations to their new bosses, while simultaneously expecting the world to belive that they themselves are pure of heart and have only altruistic motives of "reporting the news". And is it not much like the habit that this same "60 Minutes" crew has had over the past decade of assuming malicious motivations to the right, while simultaneously giving those on the left every benefit of the doubt?

Bye, Felicia.
