It's so refreshing to open LI in June and see almost no companies modifying their logos with alphabet cult colors. Also just a small fraction of people using idiotic preferred gender pronouns. America is healing.

I heard there is nothing to see in LinkedIn but out of work tech workers complaining about H-1Bs taking their jobs.

May have to check it out again.

As a retiree, I doom scroll LinkedIn as a weekly reminder of how much I hate(d) participating in the corporate world...so many sad and desperate people ingratiating themselves. I wish I had a vomit emoticon.

...but yeah, nice to see corporations finally recovering from the woke mind virus.

I still occasionally look at it because I have people I still care about out there in corporate. I never posted on there other than liking some things here and there.

The "Proud to share..." posts and constant self-promotion by many is just gross.

I deleted it for this reason. It became a circle jerk of corporate jargon, political correctness and self-congratulations.

You are right!!!

This used to be the trend for the last many years, I didn't see it this year.

I don't even see people arguing about pronouns anymore. I just apply to jobs for fun to get a gauge of the market, I have not run into any site which asked me for my pronouns.

Shows how corporations are stupid and just follow trends as they are too scared to stand out.

LinkedIn is pretty much my rolodex and a good place to see what work is out there. That is about the end of my use of it.

You are wrong. No one complains about H1Bs on Linkedin as they don't want to risk employers seeing their posts.

If you want to see people complaining about H1Bs and our sold our government, go to twitter.

Lucky you... and I will join the gang in about 7-8 years. There are days I wake up and wonder wtf am I doing in a corporate job when I don't have to be. Like this morning.

I have to correct you on one thing. Corporations have not recovered from anything. They didn't care about woke, or dei and are not now seeing the error of their ways. They are just pivoting as per the direction of the winds. If a Dem becomes President and brings back DEI and the people embrace it again, corps will be shouting their DEI credentials from the rooftops.

So you are giving corporations too much credit. I give Trump all the credit as he stood against the wind and won.

These days there are a lot of pompous AI generated posts by people who want to market themselves as AI experts, some hawking courses. It is gross and full of cheesy buzzwords.

Yep, everyone is a AI expert now and want to tell you all about it. LinkedIn is a great view of how crappy the corporate world is today. It's disgusting.

I still have an account but I quit spending much time when it became obvious that some of the "connection requests" and many of the "people you may know" were likely escorts.

I figured it best to just leave that alone from a risk and asset management perspective.

Seems it is a "somewhat" business/career oriented dear diary or facebook. Bunch of people "networking" and not so much working! I suppose there are people who find it useful in getting a job or finding work in their current job and, if so, good for them. So thankful I never had the need for it or anything like it though.

I have a former co-worker who's company pays him to post on LinkedIn. He said in order to get paid the full amount, it had to be at least 3 times a week. He doesn't have that much content (and I wouldn't either), so most of his posts have become ones that should be on FB instead.

FWIW I haven't hired an H-1B in almost a year now, prior to that it was probably 30-40 percent. It's a huge shift and opportunity for motivated engineers who are citizens.

It's obvious a lot of this is compensation driven.

I want to throw up every time I see how the (male) president of one of the AI-tech darlings, (from which I'm retired), has created a LI persona as a champion of women. All I can think about are the times 25 years ago when I reported to him as plant mgr at a SoCal facility - more than once he took us to company-paid strip club outings. (disclaimer: I did pay for my own lap dances)

Dude was a total jackass, treated people like ***** His LI presence is a 100% lie. I live for the moment when me too comes for him. LI is the perfect place for his nonsense. It's all a sham.

The humble brag posts are the worst. Second worst are the ones in which someone pens a 10-paragraph novella about some challenge they overcame and how strong they are now.

Same here! Everyone on LinkedIn is the Michael Jordan of the business world. We would all be so lucky to follow in their footsteps. If you have to log on to a website/app to tell a bunch of strangers that you switched jobs or got promoted, you've got some egotistical issues.

Pride month is all of June so I don't know why you'd be seeing the rainbows disappear already?

Also your post pretty much explains why the alphabet colors aren't going away soon, because of the overt hostility that those people groups face.

I hope we can continue to maximize hostility to the point that the usage of preferred pronouns go extinct. I'm in no way advocating for violence against anyone, FTR.

But the concept of using preferred pronoun is normalizing mental instability and is one of the most intellectually insulting things going.

On a positive note, it was helpful in identifying who to avoid and to discount as serious people.

This is good news but there is another detail.

Most companies don't seem to be hiring right now. Yes, every career page is dripping with jobs, but that fools the olds on here, not everyone. I have monitored some smaller companies over the past few years where I interviewed, they rejected me and then hired no one at all. It wasn't even a job that needed super special skills either. Many interviews are farces and either to keep up appearances or to renew an H1B.

My son is joining a tech company in the Bay next month for his first job and is in the team matching stage with Google (where he wants to go). Google needs to be hiring for him to get an offer.
