Anyone go through HCC to get into A&M engineering...how did that work ETAM wise?

The primary path to a degree-granting major in the College of Engineering is the Entry to a Major (ETAM) process. As a student in the Engineering Academies, you are strongly encouraged to apply to a degree-granting major as early as possible upon meeting the following two eligibility requirements:

  • You must be in good academic standing in the Engineering Academies, which implies a CGPA of at least 2.0 at Texas A&M and 2.5 at the partner community college.
  • Complete at least two math, two science and two engineering courses while in the Academies.
Quote:

If you complete the required coursework and earn a 3.75 CGPA or higher at each institution, you are guaranteed entry to one of your top choices of engineering major after the required ETAM coursework is completed. Students must be enrolled full-time, maintain, and earn credit for a full-time course of study throughout each long semester prior to ETAM placement; a student who completes a semester with less than full-time status at Texas A&M will forfeit their automatic entry eligibility.

so based on that, as long as the kid does the required 6 courses, is a full time student, and gets at least a 2.5...they can go to A&M?

Obviously, at 2.5 you won't get into the engineering of your choice and would likely get the boot...hmm.

might be a decent choice vs wasting a bunch of money to find out your kid cannot hack it.
