Hey everyone,

I've been in outside sales for the past year and I'm looking to make a transition into medical device or pharma sales. Right now I'm in the top 2% in sales with a Fortune 500 company in industrial sales. My background at A&M was in physiology so I'm wanting to get into an sales industry that aligns better with my education.

If there is anyone who is looking for a young and driven Aggie that can come in and make an immediate impact in a territory please email me at tgandrews87@gmail.com. I'd be happy to give you my personal information or talk afterwards.

Any leads or contacts are also appreciated.

I would be interested in this thread as well, been in sales for almost 4 years and am looking to transition into medical device sales.

Any training recommendations? How long is the normal shadowing period?

Is there not a single Aggie that has any leads in healthcare sales?

I know LOTS of people looking to get into pharm/medical device sales. And very few who actually made it in and are successful.

Not helpful - but there you have it.

Pharma and med device sales aren't the holy grail that they used to be. It's just like management consulting was in the mid-late 90's. Yes, you can still make a good living at it but it's still extremely difficult to get into. Oil/gas/energy/water is booming. Unlike med/pharma, it hasn't reached it's peak yet and likely won't for a long time.

Have a good friend in pharma, what's your cup size, so I can pass on your information?

Med device is very hard to get into. It can be done though. Device companies are notoriously slow at hiring and are very diligent while interviewing. Put together a good résumé and keep contacting them. You want a career in sales? Sell yourself to them. Be persistent.

If you want to do devices, be aware what you are getting into. The money can be very good, but quality of life can be terrible. Something to think about...Device companies also don't look towards pharma companies when hiring. It can be difficult to switch. I do know a few people that successfully switched from pharma to device so it can be done. Pharma reps just have a "stigma" about them.

If you want to get into medical device sales, don't go into pharma. Pharma has a reputation for being a glorified catering job. Fair or not, medical device companies are wary of pharma reps and their ability to sell.

There are jobs - I would recommend getting on companys' websites and searching. The money isn't what it used to be, and the environment has changed a lot.

Hi ShotOver,
I saw your comment on the thread about breaking into medical device sales and wanted to reach out. I'm an Aggie currently trying to transition into med device, and I'd really appreciate any guidance or feedback on my resume if you'd be open to it.

If you're still willing to help, I'd love the chance to talk or email with you.
Thank you so much, it would mean a lot.
