I'm trying to leave the classroom after more than a decade. I have a business degree and CAPM certification. I am applying for project coordinator roles and customer success roles. I have been applying since December and only had one interview. I knew within the first 5 minutes of that interview that I was not a fit and would not be getting an offer.

I currently have active applications at Cambium, Wiley, and Big Ideas Learning (Larson Texts). I have tried to connect with people at those companies through LinkedIn, but it doesn't ever go anywhere. Some of them don't respond at all. Others respond, but just tell me that it is Joe Bob's job posting and I should contact him - which I do and then get no response.

Most of these types of roles are remote, which makes them highly competitive. Most of these roles are perfect for teachers leaving the classroom, which makes them highly competitive. I really need some help getting my foot in the door and would greatly appreciate any help that anyone could offer.

Have you looked at roles at companies like Thought Industries or Go1?

Leave a way to contact you, and I will respond.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

Those are companies I'd be interested in too, but I haven't seen any postings for my qualifications/experience level.

One suggestion - look at the local community colleges and universities.

Houston Community College Job Site

San Jacinto College Job Site

University of Houston Job Site

After looking at the first 2, there seem to be some positions you might be interested in.

I'm hiring for an admin position in my department (East Tennessee higher ed), and I've gotten very few qualified candidates (as an example of higher ed opportunities).
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

I would even look more broadly than education companies if you are interested is customer success. One of my best CSMs was a former kindergarten teacher.

I'm not necessarily trying to focus just on educational companies. I just feel like my teaching background is not seen as useful by a lot of HR people. I think hiring managers would probably see the transferable skills, but they never get to see my resume if it gets rejected by HR.

You might look into Between Jobs Ministry in Spring. They have resources and networking training etc.

Best of Luck.

Try looking at job opportunities in the Training field. With a business degree and teaching background that might be a good fit for you. There are all kinds of financial systems out there, and many have in house type trainers to teach/guide their customers. Even online banking for the corporate accounts have separate staff that focus on helping use the various tools on their sites.

I would also check out Texas Municipal league career page for any outreach type positions. A lot of times they are looking for people to teach or train anywhere from kids at school to businesses depending on the department.
