Guys, wondering how one goes about finding a headhunter? My company is laying off thousands of people over the next few months and I should have clarity on my job by the end of June. At this point, despite being a high performer and bringing in some very large deals over the course of the last 14 years, I'm unsure if I'll have a job come June. Part of me is contemplating retirement, but part of me tells me I should continue working. I'm leaning towards the latter.

I've got excellent work experience, a quality education and post-graduate education. I've got over twenty years of experience with some of the largest companies in the Fortune 15. Part of me wants to throw my name out there for consideration for other jobs just to gauge market interest in me and determine whether I'm fairly compensated or if I could do better someplace else. I'm 52 and could retire today, but not sure what I'd do with myself besides drive my wife crazy. Question I have is how do I go about finding someone who can help me with my objectives? Does such a service exist?

I have a LinkedIn account and a resume. I've dropped some applications that have shown up on LinkedIn but unsure if this is the most efficient way to go about it. Your help is much appreciated.

Google search for recruitment agencies in your area that specialize in your industry/profession, browse their job listings and reach out to them if they have anything open for you. Connect with recruiters in your industry on Linkedin.

However, your best bet is to probably just search and apply for positions you're interested in directly on Linkedin and Indeed. A headhunter can only help you so much, if they dont have anything open for you with their clients at the moment, then they will likely be a waste of your time.

Think of a job search in various buckets. Here is how I spend most of my time when Im in a job search:
50% applying for jobs on my own, 30% reaching out to my network to see if they have anything open or can refer me to other roles, 20% working with headhunters and external recruiters. These percentages can obviously vary depending on your personal situation. The key is to utilize all 3 buckets and not just go all in with one.

Really hard to recommend anything without knowing the roles or industries you've worked in.

I'm in a commercial/BD manager role for a major. Trying to not reveal too much on here.

It's a name I've had on here for 22 years that was born from Hillary Clinton comments years ago. One should not read anything into it.
