"I am an Army veteran with a Top Secret/SCI (Secret Compartmented Information) clearance that worked in the 10th SFG (Special Forces Group) Military Intelligence (S2) SCIF (Secret Compartmented Information Facility) for 5 years 32 weeks. I have a Sec+, GSEC, GFACT, GISF and GCIH Certification. I am looking for remote, online work, or, at minimum, a paid internship position in Cyber Security (also online) until I am able to move to the United States. I am currently living in Indonesia due to my Indonesian wife whom I married and now have one child with and another on the way and am awaiting a spousal visa from the United States for her. The process time for the visa as of today is 20 months and I am trying to find a way to gain income until my wife's visa is approved before moving back to the United States. I am simply trying to avoid living separately from my family by working in the United States and having my pregnant wife and child live in Indonesia for 20 months.

I also want to emphasize that I have a passion and desire to pursue Cyber Security and IT since 2012. I am in the process of getting an undergraduate in Cyber Security which I will finish by the end of the year as a full time student, though I am very flexible with how much school I can do if I find work."

Given the US Citizen on US Soil requirements for most TS work, that's going to be difficult to overcome until he repatriates to the USA.

And, he's going to need to land that TS clearance with somebody who can hold it, soon.

Recently, I hired a guy who worked for me for about 20 months but he only had 24 months to find a place to hold his clearance and we couldn't do it so, he had to return to the defense contractor community where somebody could hold his clearance.

Also, these days with all the online learning opportunities, there's no reason to not get your college degree. Have him take a look at some place like Western Governor's University. They seem to hand out college degrees like candy to all the folks who are "really smart" but can't be bothered to complete a regular college program.

I'm somewhat empathetic to your son's wife's immigration situation because I've seen lots of people go through it with their foreign spouses. But... it's the USA. Everybody wants to come here and given the number of immigration sham marriages I've seen and the number I've seen proposed, I'm OK with making people jump through extra hoops to get in.

He will be completing his degree with SANs.

It's just that he will finish it in the next 8 months.

If the wife's visa can be expedited in that time then there will be no issues with him coming.

The issue is that his GI bill will end then and then he must leave to find work.

It just being separated from. his fam with a new born that creates a massive issue.

I get that it's a tough situation but... it's certainly not unprecedented.

When my sister was born, it was 6 months before we got to reunite with my father because in that era, they wanted babies to be 6 months old before they could travel to Saudi Arabia (where my dad had a job).

Greetings, had to make an account so I could respond. I am the one looking for work so I can respond to some observations and opinions.

I have been married for 3 years this October and have a one year old child whom is registered as a US citizen and another on the way. While I certainly understand the concern for sham marriages, I can attest to my marriage as certifiably legitimate. We are also prepared to live separately if it's need for me to provide for my family but with a current wait time of 19 months, even after I graduate school in 7 months, we will be separate for 12 months. I am simply trying to minimize that time by as much as possible.

I'm also looking simply for an IT job that can be done online until my wife's visa is approved. So I understand that defense work is out of the picture. I mainly mention my clearance to indicate my capability as a trustworthy individual when it comes to IP, PII, and other sensitive information. Also since I am in Indonesia, I don't require the same competitive income. I am looking for anything that pays from $3000 per month and above since that is more than enough to live in Indonesia and save for the eventual move to the US. It's also why I mentioned the potential of a paid internship. The rest of the resume is just to show my qualifications that I have for a very competitive rate due to my current circumstances.

I also will attest that Malfusion is my son Peter B. And that he lives in Indonesia with his wife and my 4th very precious and precocious granddaughter.

I have been posting on Texags for nearly 30 years now. The point being he is not a North Korean scammer. LOL

Furthermore, though I may be accused of having the bias of a dad, I kind of know Pete pretty well, and there are few things about him that kind of set him apart from your normal nerd IT guy.

His ability to work and perform under pressure is elite, He rises to the occasion, keeps his cool and performs. He has always been that way whether it be on the football field or on the battle field of cyber space. His Army commendation awards pretty much are for that. He is a problem solver and does so when it is critical and there are time constraints, and he a has different sort of mind then my other three kids, that's for sure.

Interesting, it looks like you're 200 miles from KL and 400 from SG.

I would scour the Malaysian and Singaporean web sites for English speaking jobs that can be worked remotely.

When I hired a guy in Singapore a few years ago, we had to post the job on this Singaporean Govt. Jobs website.
https://www.mycareersfuture.gov.sg/

We had to post it there for several months before we could hire an Indian guy on a sponsored work visa.

And for whatever it's worth, my comments regarding immigration sham marriages weren't intended to imply that you were in that situation. I was merely stating that I'm glad it's difficult because of those reasons. And I've known girls who sell their US spouse citizenship anywhere from $5k - $50k. And men who have brought over brides from Russia, Colombia and Thailand.

Thinking about your location, you might even be able to land an English speaking call center job out of India but most of those are in the $10k - $40k USD range. We hired a guy in Bangalore a few years ago for $50k and got scolded for paying too much. You're only 1 1/2 hours off from IST.

Indeed the school does, but they are running into the same situation as most of the jobs, I'm looking for. The Moment I go to the US, I am quite confident of finding an IT/Cyber job but getting something remote is difficult.

That is why I am looking for something IT related that I can do online until I go to the US when my wife's visa is approved. I'm not specifically looking for Defense contracts or Cyber specific jobs as doing that exclusively online would be nearly impossible. Just something that can make ends meet which, luckily only requires something that pays $2000-$3000 per month.

I'd definitely search any Malaysian / Thai / Singapore / Indonesia / India job boards.
When I used to live in Australia, I found Seek was pretty good. https://www.seek.com.au
I'm not sure what is popular in those other countries.

Dell used to have a big operation in Malaysia, you might try their site.

Of course the legal issues around getting hired, paid in local currency, etc. could be challenging too.
