Some underhanded **** right there if true. Be sure to opt out if you are with them.

AT&T is doing this as well but they do it by helping you save money by switching. Every time I call they try to push me to a new plan to save 100 bucks a month. I won't save that money when they realize I'm yanking over a TB off their network through my grandfathered unlimited hotspot plan.

This will eventually be forced on me I'm sure. It's BS.

I wouldn't be surprised if their notification emails contain something in the subject line which increases the likelihood of them ending up in people's spam folders.

How the hell does someone use a terabyte of data per month?

It's not a TB. I was being a bit overly dramatic. It's typically 50-100GB on that device. Plus 10-20 on each of the four phones.

We homeschool and it's our only internet so it's used for everything from school, to yttv, Netflix, business internet etc….and then the kids each use whatever on their TVs. It's more data than makes the carrier happy though. They always try to push me off and one day, I expect they will no longer do grandfathered anything.

I called them yesterday and the rep was prepared to talk about my plan though she did admit the info leaked.

I have a very old Simple Choice North America plan and 8 lines including home internet for little over $240 per month. Home internet sucks up about 500GB+ per month.

They're going to upgrade our plan to Magenta including free netflix account and it will actually lower my payment by $6 per month.

I don't like this change but I'm not really unhappy about it either.

Will they grandfather the Magenta or is this just a step to push you further up the stairs? I'm in the Simple plan too. Will they let you stay on n the Simple?
If you call in to support, and hold fast through their transition sales pitches, old plans can be still used.

It's a crap situation they're putting us in though.

When I talked to the rep, she said no.

But once the official notice comes out, we will see.

I remember when I signed up about a decade ago, the promise was the rate would never change. So I need to find that.

Not sure about the SC plans but the ONE plans are getting shafted. We have taxes and fees included and lose kickbacks. My ONE Plus plan with 3 lines unlimited are regularly $80 with kickbacks. Id be up over $110 on the new garbage they are pushing.

Steps in there to opt out and how to check if it was successful by checking your line addons. Might take a while for the addon to show up online, up to 24hr i was told. I called already and opted out in about 30s, no sales pitch from the rep either which was nice.

We are a former Sprint customer (and wound up on Sprint when they bought Cellular South years ago). We are already grumpy because they will no longer honor auto-pay discounts if you pay by cc. You have to link a bank account or use a debit card. That change just increased our bill by $20.

I'm in our account now. We are on the old "Sprint MAX" (I thought I converted this to Magenta Max a while ago, so I don't know what happened to that).

Our "upgrade" is to Go5G Next. Current bill is $234 for 4 lines; new bill would be $311.

For that extra $77/month, want to know what we get? Netflix and a 50 GB hotspot instead of a 40 GB hotspot. NOTHING else about our service changes.

They also seem to have deactivated the chat feature on their website. I can't get it to work, despite the fact that the link above says you can opt out via a chat.

What a joke.

Edited to add: you can chat through the app. But I just got an automated message that says the wait time to talk to an actual human is 3 hours.

Update: Took about an hour but I got someone on chat. He was very nice/helpful and put the opt out notice on our account. Let's hope this holds for a while.

I haven't either. On the One family plan so just waiting. Where are people moving to if t-mo shafts us?

I had not gotten the text or email when I contacted them yesterday (and to still haven't gotten anything). They were supposed to start notifying customers yesterday.

But that wasn't an issue. The customer service rep I talked with knew what I was asking for and put the opt out note on the account.

They said they would start, its will likely take a while to get them all sent.

Also when i talked with another rep, they said that if you have one of the specialized plans sharing the same name (Like ONE Plus), that they didnt think it would be effected. Only the plain ONE plan people would be hit for example.

I was actually looking to switch TO T-Mobile as AT&T gets terrible reception in our new area, may have to reevaluate that.

Also, this is great:

My wife needs a new iPhone and T-Mobile had the best deal on 14s so I was planning to stick with them another year or two, but between this, the hacks and removing the discount for credit card users I'm pretty done with them.

Anybody got a favorite carrier with a good iPhone deal right now?

Called TMobile this morning to opt out. The rep I spoke with indicated they are no longer changing customers to a different plan.

The switch actually would've lowered my cost with additional service - Netflix.

I've been with Tmobile for about 8 years and I really like em.

7 lines and 1 home internet for $240 per month. Really can't beat it.

Yep now it's "select plans will be reached out to as a test" as an excuse to slow down the roll out.

They're still hoping not enough people saw the original report to need to do an actual press release either which is lame.

More forced change bull**** where you have to opt out. At least its not a price increase yet. Just got this text today and so did my brother.

"We remain very interested in rationalizing our legacy rate plans," added Sievert. "So we're going to stay at it," reiterating that getting users to switch plans will "probably" require the carrier to "do something different" than this test indicated.

So basically "and we would've gotten away with it too if it wasn't for those meddling journalists, but we'll be back"

From my understanding, the Go5G Next benefits include free upgrades every year, so if you are upgrading your phone every year, that would be the benefit. Now if Sprint MAX had that, then it is the same.

We are thinking about switching from One to Go 5G Plus because it is free upgrades every 2 years, and for the monthly cost increase, we probably would purchase phones enough to make it worth it.

We wouldn't have changed, but we are at 6 lines on One and we are ready to add our youngest to make it 7 lines. While we aren't forced to a new plan, we can't add any more to the family plan on One.

It will likely happen with a technology change. "Your plan is for unlimited LTE only, not 5G". Something like that down the line. Or perhaps when your hotspot breaks, they will claim your plan isn't compatible with the new hotspots. Some BS that doesn't violate their agreement legally, but still leaves you having to change plans.

Do we still have any T-Mobile employee posters with that insiders discount code?
