I am looking to replace my wife's old IPad Mini 2 which is no longer supported by Apple. Wondering what you guys would recommend as a good replacement?

She will use it mainly for reading and internet browsing. She liked the IPad Mini because it had similar dimensions as a book and I think she would want to stick with something close to that size rather than going with a full size tablet.

She has an Iphone and is comfortable with the Apple family. But does NOT want to sync this device to her Apple ID/ICloud, so I think she would potentially consider a non-Apple product as long as it can run Libby and other standard apps.

Doesn't need cellular on this product, WIFI only is fine.

Since she will use it to browse the internet, watch the occasional video, etc. I'm looking for decent display at a minimum.

Rarely would she use the camera, so camera specs aren't very important.

Most of her usage would be near power sources. So long battery life is nice but not a necessity.

Budget is an issue. As a browsing/reading primary device, I'm not looking at spending big bucks for the biggest, fastest system.

Thanks Ags.

The iPad 9th Gen checks all of the boxes except for the size. You can get them new for $250, and given that Apple is still producing them, they'll be supported for 5+ years.

$250 isn't bad. I'll check it out. Thanks!

Yeah, when it comes to tablets Apple is owning the game, I've tried a few others and the experience isn't anywhere close. The 9th gen would be a good choice, they do still make the Mini as well.

If she liked the size of the mini, I'd get another one. To save, wait until early next year when they'll likely release the new versions of various iPads and get the current one. Its pretty good. More than $250, but it will last several years. I'm thinking of doing just that and I've already got 2 iPads I use -- one Air I use daily and one Pro I use several times a week. I'd like a Mini to grab to take notes in a quick meeting for or to have for church.

Just wait, every iPad including the mini will be updated in 2024.
